I’ve been playing this course occasionally for years, but got back into golf seriously last year. I played here multiple times per week, and haven’t had great experiences. The long haired guy who seems to run most things(whether he’s the manager or what), has always seemed kinda rude, and once charged me for 2 extra golfers and carts. When I came back in, he was unhelpful, told me to call the course some other time to get the park district guy. This could be an isolated incident, he could have been having a bad day, whatever. I get that. However, the overall experience here is not the greatest. This course has not made an effort to keep their greens, fairways, or tee boxes in good shape, and may greens have large dead spots. I’ve seen that they are doing some renovations, so maybe they are trying to better the course, but until they do, I’ll spend my money elsewhere.
Unbelievable bargain if you don't mind the drive
Saw this $11 hot deal in DeKalb and glad we gave it a try. This is a fun course with beautiful mature trees, lots of water hazards, prairie grass and several unique and challenging holes (especially the 6th hole par 4 and the 10th hole par 3). There was a t'storm the night before, so some of the traps had standing water and the fairways and rough had not been cut, but this was to be expected and didn't detract from the playability. The greens had some slope and were in great shape. There is no driving range and the putting green is not the best, but overall we were very pleased. The lady in the pro shop told me the rate didn't include the cart, but when I explained that the GolfNow ad showed the little cart icon, she gave us carts at no charge. We stopped at the turn for excellent fresh grilled brat's and a beer all at reasonable prices. The normal weekday senior rate is only $25 w/cart, which is still cheap. The course is very walkable as well. Don't be put off by the low price - it's worth the drive.
A good course being run down...
This course has several interesting holes and it is a shame it is being neglected so much. I saw marginal improvements since the last time I played here 3 weeks ago. Many greens have shown improvement,. Greens on 4, 5, 7 and 14 need major repairs. The Fairways on 14 and 17 are disaster areas.

very nice so much better than 2020 best in that area
Updates are appreciated
They’ve made lots of upgrades lately. There is nothing too fancy but it’s a better course than it was and they’ve done a nice job getting a standard park district layout into really good playing shape.

Great course at a reasonable rate. It is managed by the Dekalb Park District that is making many noticeable improvements
Greens
I am very concerned about the condition of the greens. Number 16 looks bad.
What causes this damage, how soon will it start to looks better?
General course condition is good and getting better.
Nearly flat terrain, but holes are designed to challenge average golfer.VERY POORLY maintained
I play this course ONLY to meet up with friends who live close by. In the last two years this course has deteriorated severely. The management spent money on creating new cart paths, That is nice. It is like serving a stinking soup in a golden bowl! The green fees are very cheap and that attracts a lot of players. But, please spend some money on maintenance to make the course half way decent and you have room to raise the fees a bit more. It is sad to see a good design withering and eventually dying!

Serious Potential
This has the potential to be a beautiful course! Bridges, lakes, corn fields, nature. However, greens were in rough shape and dandelions galore. Still, we enjoyed the course and if they ever put some work into, this course could be really nice!

Used to be hidden gem
Very disappointed. We visited RH multiple times in 2019 and 2020. But the first visit of 2021 will not have us going back this year. The course is shoddy to put it mildly. Greens, fairways, tee boxes. Will give it another try in 2022.
