An unknown gem
We were playing poker that night in Fox Lake and decided to play 18 before the game. Found a Hot Deal for Fox Lake CC which I had never played before. What a gem! The course was in great condition and it's a fantastic layout with no bordering homes. Very hilly with lots of mature trees and older style smallish greens that rolled perfectly.
We had a 1:24 tee time and only saw two other foursomes on the course and one single playing behind us. It was like having our own private country club. The staff was friendly, the cart girl was friendly and hot, and we had a delicious brat in the clubhouse before the round. The only drawback was that the clubhouse was closed by the time we finished. So just headed over to our buddy's house for beer, pizza, and poker where I won $20. Overall a great day..
Hills and more hills
Elevation changes make this course really unique and tough! Easy true roll greens, but if you don’t hit fairway your second shot will be above/below your feet making it tough!
Course is always in great shape
Wish they had more food options. Course and staff are excellent!!
Decent golf course
Overall an ok golf course with some challenging holes, medium to fast greens! The layout can be challenging since theirs lots of hills and that creates a lot of blind shots to the green and usually you have to check to make sure no one is at the green.
Wish it were closer to home
Fun and pretty course, with lots of elevation changes and good conditions. Pace is slow because you often must wait to see the group ahead of you clear from places you can’t see. We were surrounded by groups of young guys drinking and getting kind of loud on the course, but that may have been a July 4 thing.
Nightmare
Very slow AND bad golfers equals a nightmare round. If you’re not 1st off the tee box at 7am plan on a 5+ hour round. I quit after 9 and have no interest in ever going back. They don’t give rain checks either so play at your own risk
Terrible pace of play
Ended up leaving after 14 holes because we had already hit the 4 hour mark. Round probably would've taken another 1.5-2 hours.
Fox lake CC
Great condition and fun layout. Played as a twosome and got around in less than 3 hours.
Variety of challenges
I've played this course before. It offers many types of hole layouts with different hazards. I am a fan of this course and I would definitely recommend it to a friend. My only;y complaint was they were cutting the grass and dragging the sand in the bunkers while we were playing
