Fox Lake Country Club

I golf here a few times a year since moving to the area. The course has always been in good shape and the staff has always been friendly.

This course has a very interesting layout, is fun to play, and is well maintained. Play this course on a weekday if you can: we played on the weekend and had to wait on every tee box and on every second shot.

It’s a great course, great layout

The rangers should be more present. A group of 6 people cut in front of us on hole 10, they said hole 1 was too backed up. I would have reported them if I was that type of person. They ended backing up the entire back 9. Sand traps are rock hard on most holes. Still a great value and I’ll play here again for sure.

Great course. Lots of elevation changes make it challenging. Greens roll true.

The golf course had some kind of best ball outing. The 18-hole round took 5 hours not acceptable. The ranger was nice. but it ruined my day.

The good: pace wasnt bad and some of the holes are interesting and fun to play. Good elevation changes.

The bad:

Greens were hard as a rock. Near impossible to hold a green when there's a bunker in front and short irons rolled out 30+ feet. (I'm an 11 handicap and don't usually have this issue at most courses). This isn't a links-style course in Scotland. Water your greens, please.

A handful of holes have side-by-side fairways that aren't that wide which leads to a bottleneck of cross-fairway play. Some have blind shots so it's just a mess. Pace of play wasn't bad overall but this is just a design flaw.

The carts have issues with parking brakes not engaging. I had issues with this and saw someone in another group have their cart fly down a steep hill into a tree. This is an injury and lawsuit waiting to happen.

Lastly, make 6 a par-4 and 17 a par-5. I think that's the longest par 4 I've ever played, which includes near 7000 yard courses.

Played with 3 other guys had a great day.shot my best game of the year. Second time out this year lol.

They are friendly, organized and it's clean there. I had no idea this course existed but I'm glad we found it. We'll definitely be back again!

Went to play fox lake again and I know is that time of year when the leafs start falling but most greens were covered with leafs and debris making it impossible to put! Course layout is just terrible but if you like a golf course with lots of hills and blinds spots go try it but I would not recommend it.

The course was in great shape for the fall. The greens had been punched, but they use small pin holes and fill them with sand. They were rolling true. The fairways were clean of leaves and in very good condition. The staff is also top notch.
