Beautiful but a very challenging course
Beautiful but very challenging course, lots of hills and mirror like putting greens…
Nice course
Nice course but not for $57 on a weekday. Saw a hot deal for around $45 dollars a little later in the day but wanted to play early. Didn't think it was going to be that high. There were about 10 cars in the parking lot when I arrived. Turns out, they were all the workers cars. So the course taken care of. $45 is about what I would normally expect to pay at a course like this. But that's just my opinion. Overall, I did enjoy playing there, but I'd only do the hot deal rate.
Grounds Keeping
We experienced grounds keepers on almost every hole, which was an annoying issue. Having to wait on a mower between ball and green was unacceptable, either they should have skipped a hole or two to get out ahead of us or wait until we finished the hole to mow behind us. We had no one playing behind us it would have inconvenienced no one. This was consistent hole after hole and we were playing in the middle of the day thinking grounds keeping would have been done by then.
This course is always in great shape.
Staff is very friendly!!!
I did the round on December 15th, and I had a reservation on the 16th.
However, it rained from the morning of the 16th, so the round was impossible all day.
However, the female employee there said she could not cancel just because she was there, and Golf Now said she could not get a refund after listening to the employee.
Fox Lake's female staff was very unkind and arrogant.
Last minute
Overall the course was in very good shape. Greens were in good shape and other than the 5 some in front of us, it was a good day

Tees, fairways, greens all in good shape. Not crowded. Most leaves were picked up. Staff was friendly. Club house sort of minimal. Brats were good. Fairway mowers kept right in front or behind us on too many holes..
Above average muni-course
1st time playing this course. Course was in good shape. Greens and tee boxes not beat up like some places. Simple layout with some challenges. My only gripe is not with the course, but with other people, and I guess the rules. It says no tee shirts or athletic apparel but I saw at least 7 or 8 people (late teens and early twenties) in 3 separate groups, wearing just that. Tee shirts and gym shorts. And they were allowed to play. Maybe it sounds like “get off my lawn” but I don’t care. Respect the game. Don’t be lazy.
Challenging course without the frustration. Fairways and greens well maintained. Very picturesque.
