Stay away!
Greens are shaggy and SLOW! Pace is ridiculous. 6 hour round! They booked us in white in the middle of an outing. When we showed up they said we had to wait for the outing. 30 mins after my scheduled time they moved us to the red course. No beverage cart either! Never again!!!!!
Great value very nice course
My friends and I have played both courses, and like Red better than the White course. The staff is very congenial and the clubhouse well maintained and staffed.
nice place
course in good shape personal very friendly and helpful
Play
Tends to be less busy in afternoon.played first 9 holes 2 hrs with 11.40 tee time on a Sunday.
Horrible staff
From the first tee to the 18th green the staff were rude. We teed of at 6:10 but had a 6 am tee time. There was a threeesome in front of us and a threesome behind us. We were four. We finished our round in 4 hours and 40 min, however were told three time by the Ranger that we were playing too slow.
Gleneagles White
I used to play this course regularly, this was the first time in 5-6 years. It shouldn't be difficult at 6200 yards but it's not that difficult to get in trouble if you aren't hitting the ball straight (which was my case this day). The greens have some slope and pace although they were still pock marked with aeration scars (they still ran pretty good). The sand traps were horrible, very little sand. The place was jam packed and the round was slow.
Caught behind a few outings
Several outings had a shotgun start about an hour after my open tee time. Unfortunately there were delays on several holes, and one par three had 4 groups on it at one time. The twosome who was matched up with us actually quit after about 11 holes since the pace was so slow. I really wish we had been warned about the outings when we booked on golf now. The greens also caused a lot of putts to bounce, presumably due to recent aeration.
Putt for dough
The course was in great shape, considering all the play it gets. If you hit the ball straight you will reap the rewards. Beautiful tree lined holes. If your game is putting this course is for you, very challenging . I will definetly play this track again
Memorial Day Out
The course seemed to be busy, but my friend who plays there says that the course can be pretty packed some days regardless of it being Memorial Day. The course was pretty straight for the most part, but we seemed to always be waiting for the folks in front of us and pushed by the ones behind. After about 13 holes the ranger finally came by and moved some players to the red course to hustle the pace of play.
Great course
Great course to play! November golf can be tricky so there was a lot of leaves, wind and a little chilly!
No ball cleaners kind of sucked but other than that it was fine!
Great Value
The white course of Glen Eagles has a really nice challenging and scenic Layout. We played on a Sunday morning. Our tee-time was 11:45, but were not able to tee-off for another 45 min due to slow play of the League.
I would recommend the course highly if it were not for slow play. Took over 6 hours!
Thank you uTUUZ7480TU for taking the time to review our course! We're glad that you enjoyed the course, but we apologize for the slow play. We do take our pace of play seriously because we understand how crucial it is to your overall experience. Please reach out to me at gleneaglescc@outlook.com, I would like to learn more about your experience. Thank you.
White Course in wonderful shape
Except for the rough areas (no sprinklers in the rough so it's sparse/inconsistent/dry/hard pan "ish") Gleneagles was in the best shape I've ever seen it yesterday and I've been playing there since 1978 at least once a season. Great job guys!! Greens were fast and smooth - no aeration and leaves were pretty well blown off most greens. Fairways were some of the nicest played this season and their bunker renovations were well thought out and really nice. Very well maintained and for $23 it was a steal......a nice surprise it was in that good of shape and the white is a fun old school course to play with lots of hills and dales. Don't get above the hole.....a 3 putt is likely. A solid 4 stars plus (4.25 in my book).
Thank you HOTSPOTTS for your review. We appreciate you being a loyal player for so many years! We are looking forward to seeing you again very soon!
Get what you pay for
Played this course for $15. So at that price I cannot complain. However, the course is average. Old dilapidated carts. No beverage cart, slow pace of play (5h) Soda machines out of order and staff being cold towards golfnow purchasers were my complaints.
The course is in ok shape. Long par4s. Ground was hard because of weather, not the fault of the course. Sloping greens on the white course make putts difficult. But overall a fair course.
Thank you Matszalay for taking the time to review our course. We are sorry to hear that your experience was not up to a level that we expect our players to have. Please reach out to us at gleneaglescc@outlook.com.
Not Horrible
The course was really nice but the greens could've been better pace of play was nice one group was behind us so we let them pass other than that we were good I would recommend this course
Gleneagles CC
A good course but needs some improvements on the tee boxes and traps
Best shape I've ever seen course in
Unfortunately traps were flooded because of massive dorms a few days before but fairways and greens were in primo shape
Great Shape
Course was in great shape for so late in the year. The greens were perfect.
Just average
A pleasant place to play, not too challenging, but nothing special. If your idea of average is Cog Hill 1 or 3, then this place is maybe just slightly above average. The course is a bit scruffy around the edges, but the condition of the fairways and greens themselves were fine. Paid $31 for a mid-afternoon tee time, but I've seen the greens fee higher at other times, and I'm not sure I'd pay $50 to play this course.
Ropes around greens
There are ropes surrounding many of the tees and greens making it difficult for anyone with any sort of handicap. Even tho they issue handicap flags, the ropes make it very difficult. They might as well not issue the flags. Some of the sand traps have almost no sand.
Straight Forward Course, Nice Shape, Slow
We happen to book our tee times on the White course (there are two 18's here) unknowing that there was a golf outing underway at the same time which took up the entire Red course. As a result, it seemed they crammed all the regular players onto the White course - perhaps even to the point of overbooking. We started 15 minutes late - not too bad. Immediately, we were the third group on the second hole - a par 3. By the time we got to hole 4 - it was an hour already and there, again, were 3 groups waiting to play a 360-yard par 4. This was shaping up to be a 5+ hour round. About this time, the shotgun start outing on the Red course finished. We immediately took advantage and jumped over to begin play on hole 6 of the Red course - a decision that probably saved us an hour and a half. Several rangers passed us by and never said a discouraging word - they knew what we did and why! That was great, as we had the entire course to ourselves. BUT... had we stuck it out on the White course as scheduled, it would have been a miserable day. Course in very nice shape - mostly very narrow true fairways, but ample width rough which was trimmed down pretty well. All-in-all, things turned out well.
Thanks for your review!
