About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2022.
Gleneagles County Club is home to two 18-hole golf courses, the Red and White. Opened in 1924, both courses have traditional layouts that have withstood the test of time. The Red Course, also known as the Lakes, is the longer of the two. Water hazards come into play on several holes, including what is considered the club's best par 3. The Red's 16th is a 170-yard hole that plays directly into the wind to an elevated green that is protected in front by a pond. It's a tough green to hit but a relatively easy one to putt. Both Gleneagles golf courses appeal to a wide range of skill levels, which is one reason why the club is known as the "Home of the Shotgun Start," serving as host to hundreds of golf outings every year.

Glen Eagles Red
This course is fun to play. The greens are small so the shots approaching it require precision. The signature hall is number 17. If you can play this whole well, you are a golfer.
One of my favorite courses
I love playing here plus the white course as well.
We're so glad you enjoy playing here! We love having you here.
Outrageous price for a very average course
Golf is like pizza. Even bad golf is usually pretty decent. However, when you pay $65 to play a round of golf, You at least expect the course management to keep the pace of play / tee time organization somewhat respectable.
It was a complete disaster and looked to me like a course trying to create a cash grab on behalf of golfers trying to get in a round with a cart during the lockdown.
Bunkers were like concrete , or filled with water. Greens were decent enough, but laughably small and with outrageous pin placements. (Again not good for pace of play)
All in all, this is probably the worst golf experience I’ve experienced at this price.
If I paid $35, I would probably have nothing to complain about. But this was tough to swallow.
We appreciate you taking the time to review us. First off, we would like to apologize that your round was anything short of the expectations we strive to uphold. We work hard to deliver a great experience to all, and we are going to pass on your feedback to the teams in charge so they can work to make changes. Thanks for visiting Red at Gleneagles Country Club. We hope to see you again in the future.
Good course for the price
Course is short and not a lot to it but it was worth the money (hot deal price of $35). We’ve been crushed with rain the last week and while the ponds were a bit bigger, one tee box moved up, and some spots were soft and mushy I would say conditions were really good given the harsh circumstances. Greens in nice shape and rolled well. Starter was friendly and we finished a round walking in 3 hours.
Thank you for visiting us at Red at Gleneagles Country Club. We appreciate your 4-star rating and review. We hope you join us for another round soon.

nice and well kept red course
bunker more like water hazard but it had rained 3 days straight prior to me playing there, otherwise the course was well manicured

Slow play pace
I try to play in a different golf course every week with my son. Today it took 5 hours and 16 minutes to play 18 holes.
The golf course needs to be updated.
Hello. Thank you for reviewing the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and we are glad to see you rated the course conditions to be great during your game. Thank you for playing Red at Gleneagles Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Forgiving, but challenging. Odd set up.
Played the red course today with great, but windy weather. 14-18mph winds made the already tight greens a challenge, but the course plays fair. Its a bit of an odd layout with all of the par 5's on the back 9. Its easy to feel good making the turn, but after 3 par 5's in 5 or 6 holes, your score quickly adjusts. For this time of year the course was in great shape, the greens were fast and groomed well. The only "complaint" i can make is there were a couple of greens that got covered in what I can only call "tree stuff." But i can't blame the crew for that with the winds we saw today. Course played fast today. We finished in 3:20, due tp the fact that we had no one in front of us but a walker who started 30 minutes before us. An event on the white course and the winds likely steered people to the other courses in the area. I look forward to going back and playing the white course.
I had very little interaction with the staff, and i did not go into the club house at all. i went into the pro shop hoping to buy a lighter for my cigar, but they didn't have any. However the guy behind the desk pulled out 6 matches in a box and happily gave them to me, So % Stars for the staff!
Thank you for taking the time to review us gochisox81. Your feedback is valuable, and we look forward to delivering you excellent service again soon. Red at Gleneagles Country Club thanks you!
Enjoyable
A fairly easy course but the conditions were good. The greens for the most part were on the small side but they were in decent shape. The bunkers were mostly filled with water so it was hard to judge their condition. Pace of play was good. The weather was great and overall it was a fun day.
Thank you for leaving us a very nice four-star review! We're so pleased to hear that you had a nice time with us. Please come and see us again soon.
Picture Perfect Easter Morning Golf
Went in the am with a buddy. Perfect weather little to no wind, 70 degrees, no cloud in the sky. Couldn't ask for any better. Course was in pretty good condition. Some work being done on some of the fairways so can't give it the perfect 5 stars. Greens were rolling pretty quickly, made for some challenging reads.. Played the red course which also had a couple long par 3s. Def a decent challange for midhandicappers like myself. .
Thank you for leaving us a great five-star review! We're thrilled that you and your friend enjoyed your morning round with us. Please come and see us again soon.
Thank you for leaving us five stars, Anthony!
Almost 5 hour round on a Tuesday, 52 degrees out - arghh!
Started at 10:20am and finished at 3pm. That is nearing a 5 hour round on a Tuesday morning/afternoon! Cannot play here again. I cannot sit around for that slow of a round. Several 5-some groups out there and several slow shimmy walking elder players. I am happy for the course for their profitability...but, rangers got to move people along. So frustrating. Price was great but not worth it at that slow of round of golf - that's why I would not play here again. Course itself was pretty good condition and couple cool challenging holes (doglegs, forced carries, some undulation, etc). Lots of very courteous maintenance staff out there working hard. Kudos for that investment/cost outlay from course.
course condition
I play the course twice a week . Tuesday Am and Wed afternoons.
The condition has been good all year but this last month it has been great.
Fairways always good but now even the rough has been cut up to 10 feet from fareways making it more fun. Enjoy the back nine on red
mud bunkers
I have played this course many times fairways are good the rough can be challenging when they are not mowed the greens are small but receptive. The BUNKERS stink I know we try to avoid them but when you are in them there is very little to no sand at all.
Red Course
A nice course to play. Back nine more of a challenge
but in great shape most likely because a lot just play the front nine. Play the two course here weekly twice a week. Again a great course for the money.
Great golf course
The course was in great shape small greens on red course the only problem we had was the cart died in the middle of the 18th fairway and had to walk the rest of hole.
Thanks so much for the kind words! We really appreciate you coming out to the course and leaving us a review!
