About
Editor's Note: Course closed for business in 2022.
Gleneagles County Club is home to two 18-hole golf courses, the Red and White. Opened in 1924, both courses have traditional layouts that have withstood the test of time. The Red Course, also known as the Lakes, is the longer of the two. Water hazards come into play on several holes, including what is considered the club's best par 3. The Red's 16th is a 170-yard hole that plays directly into the wind to an elevated green that is protected in front by a pond. It's a tough green to hit but a relatively easy one to putt. Both Gleneagles golf courses appeal to a wide range of skill levels, which is one reason why the club is known as the "Home of the Shotgun Start," serving as host to hundreds of golf outings every year.

Nothing special
Nothing special about this course. Bunkers are horrible however They did do a great job however with the leaves and greens were surprisingly smooth and fast. Problem here is its always packed so pace is slow and parking is a nightmare. I prefer the Red course over the white.
Enjoyable course
The course was very well maintained. Open fairways with fast greens.
Thank you Mark2846079 for taking the time to review our course. We are thrilled that you had such a great experience! We look forward to seeing you again soon!
Gleneagles Red Course
It's a good course for beginners; wide fairways and not too difficult hole distances. The greens are small and firm. The sand traps are erratic at best with the amount of sand in them.
Great value
Tee off was backed up for the first 5 holes but the ranger, Paddie, stayed on top of the situation and got us through for a nice round.
Great Value
Course in good condition. Not real difficult. Excellent treatment from staff.
What a dump!
This course is SO bad do not waste your time playing it!
There are several reasons why:
1. Terrible condition. You can not see what is the fairway and what is the rough because they mow it the same length.
2. NO sand in the bunkers yet the Superintendent (which I met) kept telling me how great of a job he does….what a joke!
3. I teed off at 7:00am, I got done with 9-holes at 9:00am, BUT there was NO one working the half-way house. I spoke to a manager after I golfed and they said that the family daughter works thats 1/2 way house and she was TO HUNG-OVER TO WORK???? really!!!!!!
4. The rangers don't seem to do much. They kept driving around my group almost like I was a PGA Tour player….ODD????
This course is a dumb and I won't play there again if they paid me too.
Not in good shape
Greens are bumpy, bunkers are dirt and the course is just plain boring. Not worth the 56.00 to ride on the weekends.
Good round but...
Nice old course only complaint was the greens were just aerated but there was no notification on golf now when I booked it usually it has a " aerated greens alert"
Little pricy but still good for $$$
Easy layout - pretty straight hole. Greens rolled nice and fairways were cut good. Always a favorite of mine.
Stay out of the traps!
Gleneagles is a golf course that has been around for a while, and is showing its age. The fairways are fairly open, with mature trees around, but not so many that an errant shot will get you into a lot of trouble. The biggest issue I have with this course are the traps. I didn''t say sand traps because most of the traps are dirt filled. There are some traps that have sand, but many have dirt. And when it rains (not today, but other times when I've been there) the drainage is terrible.
Usually in very good shape
The course was in good shape for this time of year. Greens very fast but in good shape. No complaints.
Surprised at quality or the price
The Red Course was in excellent shape and the separation between groups was great. Waited until group in front of us was on the green to tee off. This allowed us to play without waiting until 17 at which a delay is understandable. Greens were some of the best I've played on for quite a while. And the price couldn't be beat for the experience. Well definitely return.
Golflover
Awesome course. Great condition for there being snow on the ground a week ago!
Find another course
Very unfriendly people running the course. Once they got your fee they could care less about any issues.
Saturday outing, ugh!
My tee time was 12:45 on Saturday. I went out as a single & was teamed up with 3 nice guys. We were stuck behind an outing the whole day. Ugh!!! I will call first to see if there is an outing next time before I book a tee time. We were backed up every hole.
Very good old style course
Greens are small, but are in excellent shape. The course has a fair golf layout. Fairways are tree lined, but have reasonable width.
fairways were in great shape
The staff and rangers on the course were very nice.
Some ball marks on the greens that inconsiderate people don't care to fix.... otherwise a great course to play. Good price for the money on hot deals.I definitely will come back.
Fun course
Generally, course was in great shape. Some sand traps could be improved with more sand added. Greens played true, and were quite challenging with slopes and various undulations.
Fun day at GlenEagles
Had fun, met some gentlemen and joined them for some holes because the group in front were slow. Greens and fairways in good shape.
Night golf
It was a beautiful night for golf. However, on several holes, we had greens keepers waiting for us to finish to water. Some holes they were sitting in carts on side of greens. Not only is that dangerous as they could get hit but VERY distracting to the golfer.
Thank you Hackamungus for taking the time to review our course. We appreciate the compliment on the greens, and we're in the process to improve our bunkers. We hope the you come back and see us!
