Broken Arrow Golf Club - East/North
About
There are 27 holes of golf available at Broken Arrow Golf Club, which are broken down into the East, North, and South nines. They are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The East/North Course begins with the most challenging nine of the three. Sloped fairways, hidden water, and strategically placed bunkers make good course management essential. The back nine is considered the most scenic but it boasts another distinction. It is the only course with a dual-green concept in the Midwest, meaning that golfers have the choice of playing to either of the two flags on each hole. It was designed to give players control over the difficulty of the golf course. There are also 30 bunkers and mature trees that come into play on the back nine.

9 Hole layout on South course Photo submitted by DavidLaDuke on 04/06/2015
Course itself was good, but amenities severely lacking. Only Porta-potties!
Rating and slope don't align with the course
Everything about the round was great. The staff was friendly and helpful. The pace of play was very acceptable. We knew ahead of time that the clubhouse was closed and the amenities were slim.
My big issue is the slope and rating. This is an easy course, especially the South course. It is forgiving off of the tea, and easily avoidable trouble once you're off the tee. The rating and slope are too high and unfairly affects one's handicap index.
We played the South-East layout, and the East course was much more challenging. Still overall, easier than the rating indicates
Disappointing pace of play and pin placements
A 8:30 morning round with a cart should never take almost 5 hours to finish. I think for starters they did not space out the tee times far enough part. Then the pace of play was very slow and there were no rangers out monitoring the speed of play. On one hole the group of front of us just stopped to get drinks in the middle of the fairway holding our group and the group behind us on the tee. Also the pin placements were not ideal with just about every pin being placed at the edge the green.
Overcoming the Bad Rap
I've seen a lot of negative reviews on this course since they had a run of bad luck with weather and course management [for whatever reason] and was leery to play it...but I was pleasantly surprised. Fairways were groomed and mowed short, bunkers were soft, greens were running smooth and overall I think this course is rebounding nicely. No clubhouse? Who cares...I didn't go there to lounge around and enjoy the decor. Beverage cart saw us three times over the course of our round too. Glad we gave it a chance to earn our business again.
Great shape...
I read reviews that the course was in bad shape. When we played in early September, the course was in a GREAT shape. We got out early and there was still dew on the ground. This is a no frills course. Pro shop is a shack. No bar. The beverage service on the course has only beer and two alcohols. We teed off at 7:20am and was looking forward to some bloodies to no avail. I would come back.
Broken with a huge down Arrow
Clubhouse closed all season.....too lazy to repair pipes that burst over the winter. No running water (except bottom level of the clubhouse where carts are stored). No bathrooms with running water just two smelly outhouses near a decrepit building by the range (off mats) and outhouses midway through each of the 3 nines. They even have an electrical cord run from the closed clubhouse to power the stuffy/hot "check in" building....and you drive your cart over the cord a few times. The carts themselves were completely filthy. Trash in all of them - basically dirty sticky messes. There was nurse service which was a surprise.
DON"T BOTHER. While the course has decently maintained fairway and traps.....the greens are sandpaper to inconsistent at best and bumpy. They were micro aerated recently but doubtful they'll be remotely smooth the rest of the season.....it was difficult to figure out the pace of the greens......they are that inconsistent. Some putts just stop or hop up out of nowhere and others run out much more than others.
FYI - the north nine features double greens that in years past had two flags. One difficult pin and one easy pin. They are not mapped well on your garmin.....my yardages were way off front to back the entire north nine. Without local knowledge they can be really difficult to club because of the extreme distances front to back....as well as side to side.
Course is not even remotely worth the $40 plus weekday and $50 plus plus weekend rates they are charging. Not recommended.
I will give them another try next season....but may not unless they are back in the actual clubhouse. I don't get the idea they really care.
Only ding is there is really no food here just chips. It would be nice if you told people when they book to make sure to eat or bring something with then. Great staff and course.
TERRIBLE COURSE
WOW! Terrible course conditions!! 5 GREENS minimum, no putt conditions! Tore up. Dead Greens!! Working out of TRAILER on the side of the course. &30 with promos WAY TO MUCH. Starter was more worried about getting an EXTRA $10 for a single rider cart! Every hole had 3 & 4 carts.!!!!! NEVER AGAIN not even if FREE !!!!!
Greens were a little slow and they were different from south to north! Course was in good shape and the maint staff was doing the best they could with the greens! Would play it again!!
Broken Arrow - Ehhh
I love that Broken Arrow has 3 9 holes, but the East course is closed. They had a problem, I get it,,.. but some situations are unacceptable. No water on the course!! What!! There’s seniors on the course in 90 degree heat, and they have to wait til they complete 9 holes before they get to a mini fridge that serves overpriced drinks - Unacceptable! I”m a fit 52 year old, and Quickly drank a half gallon at competition because you can’t get anything on the course. Carillon is a similar course - water everywhere
They need to pay they’re landscapers more, the course is going downhill from years ago. There are signs “Help wanted”, and you can tell they are struggling to keep it in shape. They’re making money, start paying these hard working guys and you’d also get those positions filled. It’s a fragment of what it used to be,..
Much better than earlier in the season. Played South/North course
Avg Course, Needs Some TLC
Fairways in decent condition... greens were a battlefield, clubhouse/kitchen/pro-shop were all under construction which was not disclosed to me when I made my reservation (Golf-Now shortfall).
