Broken Arrow Golf Club - North/South
About
Located just 40 miles southwest of Chicago's Loop, Broken Arrow Golf Club is one of the most popular golfing facilities in the area. The club offers 27 holes of championship golf, divided into three unique nines that offer different challenges and scenery. The golf courses: East, North, and South, are played in three different 18-hole combinations. The North/South is the most scenic of the courses. The North is especially beautiful, but it also has another distinction. It is the only course in the Midwest with a dual-green concept. The design allows golfers to control the difficulty of the course by offering the option to play to either of the two flags on each hole. The club's former use as a farm is evident on the South nine where the original farmhouse and silo can be seen from the first tee box.

9 Hole layout on South course Photo submitted by DavidLaDuke on 04/06/2015
Course is in very good shape, except.....
Course is in best shape in years, could use ranger to push along slower groups. 4:45 round too long with last group of morning regulars 3 some ahead holding up our foursome. The traps need better drainage and fresh sand. there was standing water in quite a few, and it hasn't rained in a few days. There is NO drinking water on the course, so bring a bottle if you are going to play here. I recommend the course. nice people, fast well kept greens, and good value
Golf Gem in Lockport
I have been playing this course for years and it still remains challenging as ever. The layout of the South and East course is very challenging with the east being slightly harder.
i was disappointed with the condition of the sand traps on the East course. After almost a week of no rain, several traps still remained water logged and all the traps appeared to not have been raked in weeks.
I am not a fan of the type of “sand” they are using these days, as i feel it could double as dirt based on the consistency. Sadly this seems to be an ongoing issue with sand traps in the chicago land area, not just Broken Arrow.
Lastly, i miss the opportunity to work in the North course to the mix. I like the slightly more wooded hole layouts. I understand that you can play the North in the morning upon request. Please bring back the option to book various combinations of the 3 nines throughout the entire day.
While my review is a bit critical i will return to play this course again so long as things don’t worsen.
Worth a try
May a bad layout, decent pace of play and not unreasonable price ( Golf now hit deal).
Off course was lacking.
Fun track.
Broken Arrow offers a challenging, but fun set of courses (3 nine hole courses). As you mix and match the North, South, and East courses, it’s a nice mix of 3’s, 4’s, and 5’s with hazards that enhance the experience without being overly difficult. I play here often. Definitely recommended.
Nice course
Nice course challenging greens good layout need to improve their range and off course amenties food is never prepared at the turn
Much Better than Last time
excellent round. Great weather, all was good. 3 1\2 hrs . Total! Followed an all girls high school tournament about 1 1/2 months ago. OUCH! 5 1/2 hrs then. Golf now app price is pretty good. Also had a promo code. I will be back
Best shape in several years
Went South to North. Fairway and rough at proper lengths tee boxes need a little work and stay out of the inconsistent sand traps..pure crapshoot as to what conditions you'll face. Greens were in decent shape holding and watered proper amount but lots of ball marks not repaired or improperly repaired. Pace of play was immediately an issue and we waited on every shot on the South front nine. Instead of playing the East nine (the most difficult of the nines with lots of water) we went over to the North nine and enjoyed a 1.5 hours back instead of the turtle 2.5hrs front. Years past the North nine sported double flags featuring double sized greens (a tough flag and an easy flag)....however this season mgmt has only cut one flag on these massive greensites. The North nine is the most picturesque and my favorite of the 3 nines...you need to pay strict attention to your yardages - laser/garmin a must as there's no gps on the carts. Decent clubhouse (exterior is butt ugly) and the practice range was off grass - a nice change as for several years I've always had to warm up on mats. If I recall correctly they do have a locker room and showers in the basement. All in all a nice operation. Solid 3.5 to 3.75 stars....and I'll reiterate best shape this course has been in a least 5 years and maybe more as I've played it since it opened in 96.
Nice course
Nice course. Slow, h.s. girls tournament. Avg price. Would go again
Enjoyable Round
Broken Arrow is a solid course, challenging with uneven lies if you roam from the fairway, but you can score well when hitting straight.
The greens were well kept, and rolled true. Again, the key is ball placement because the greens have undulations.
There are quite a few blind shots and tight approach shots that require prior knowledge and solid ball striking.
My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our round of golf today.
Short staffed
Course was in good shape but the pace of play was a little slow even for holiday standards. No ranger on course, snack shop had no one available and there was no cart girl until the round was almost over.
Great holiday round. Challenging 9 holes great course condition.
Good challenge
Goid challenge. Good layout. 27 holes allows for variety.
Does not drain well. Cartpath only 2 days after big rain.
Conditions Good Considering
Played 2 days after course received 4+ inches of rain, cart paths only needless to say. There was water in most of the bunkers and some wet spots on the course, but for the most part the course handled the rain well. Greens were in very good shape, except the countless ball marks that other golfers seem unable to repair. I golfed shortly after the completion of an outing, so pace of play was excellent, would also explain alot of the ball marks on the greens. The rough was incredibly thick because of all the rain, thankfully i hit the ball fairly straight this day.
Tough little track
I have been playing this course for years and it still provides me with a challenge.
Despite a deluge of rain, course was in good shape. The greens are in terrific condition. Traps were a little water logged, but that was a result of a 1/2” of rain the night before.
The driving range was water logged so we had to hit of of mats. The mats are in pretty bad shape and could be replaced.
The course sports 3 regulation 9 hole courses, North, East, and South. Sadly the East and South are only playing for 18 holes. I miss the opportunity to mix up the three. Wish they would bring this back.
Great course HORRIBLE off course amenties
Great course in very good condition greens were fast pace of play was nice. BUT didn't see a cart person till very late in the round and at the turn there was NO food ready and noone at the food courter. Broken arrow really needs to step up their food and drink service very poor service.
Great day
Had a great time with some old friends at Broken Arrow on Monday. Never once waited to hit a shot and as a foursome we let a single and a twosome play thru during our round. Finished in 4:15 minutes which was GREAT! Kudos to DAVE in the pro shop for setting up our 4th player with a great deal to match the one we had on Golf Now. We will all be back in coming months. Keep up the great work on the course. You have a hidden gem here at a fair price!
