Poor maintenance. Not enjoyable course
Maintenance: fairways were all weeds and clovers. The greens were spongy from poor upkeep. There is no such thing as fringe here. Trees were in desperate need of trimming, making the course borderline unplayable ( being blocked out by tree branches stretched halfway across the fairway was common place for the landing zones off the tee).
Layout: To sum it up, stupid. Every green is either 100 feet above your feet or below your feet. Approach shots From the fairways are almost exclusively on 20 degrees downhill or 20 degrees uphill (not an exaggeration). On about half the holes you can’t see the green on your approach with no way to tell pin placement (no map or even colored flags) coupled with tiered greens and questionable pin placements makes it fairly unplayable, especially if this is you’re not a regular. Also, There was a gimmick tree blocking out half of the fairway on hole due to it being in front of the tee box
If you are walking, you better be in shape. So many hills to climb up. Most holes are shaped like “U”s.
Terrible conditions and layout
This course is so poorly maintained it’s amazing they charge people to play. The fairways are a mix of dry dirt patches mixed with crab grass. The bunkers are filled with rocks and completely unplayable. My group took the ball out of the traps 3 times for fear that we would damage our clubs. The greens are well cared for, but that is literally it. The lay out of the course is also really poor. The holes are so close together that we had people hitting golf balls into us on nearly every hole. I would NEVER play this course again and the $60 green fees are laughable.
Owners must not care
This is a great layout but is in awful condition. It’s clear the owners don’t care. The fairways are full of weeds. The bunkers are a mess. The carts, cart paths and bridges are in disrepair. It’s a shame. Someone needs to take this course over and turn it into what it could be - a fantastic track with wonderful elevation changes and a new challenge on every tee box.
Fairways
Other than the fairways course was in pretty good Shape.
Great Layout
Unique layout! Fairways and some bunkers need work.
Over 5 and a half hours to play 18 is less than ideal.
Course needs some TLC
Played this course a dozen times in the last ten years. Today was the worst condition I’ve seen and played on.
Conditions
Fairways were in horrible shape and navigating the course via cart paths was bad. The greens were in very good condition.
Fun and Challenging Course
This was a fun track to play as it was one of the more challenging courses in the Chicagoland area. This course is long (including a 605 yard Par 5) and has a surprising amount of elevation change. The bones of this course are great with elevated tee boxes, bunker protected greens, and elevated approach shots. The greens are fantastic with great movement and difficult pin locations. The front 9 could use some TLC with fairway bunkers that are unplayable and fairways that can use some grooming. Conditions improved on the back 9. Overall, the course could use some work, but I’ll be back for the challenge.
Not up to par
While the course is challenging and there are many great holes to play, I felt like the course was not manicured very well. There were lots of dead leaves in the rough, which is odd in July. I understand that many courses are behind as far as getting things in order, so I will return again and hope to see the beautiful course I remember from 2 years ago. For the money, I was expecting more. It’s still a nice challenge.
Waste of money.
Greens were slow, fairways were long, the conditions of the greens was the best part of this course. Even if they were as slow as a toddler eating Brussels sprouts. After driving on the cart paths I may need a chiropractor. The sand traps were horrible. So bad they take care of half of them and those ones are rock hard as well. On top of all that I paid $70 to play a crap course. This course should be about $40 tops.
I would not waste my time or money here again.
