Marengo Ridge Golf Club opened as a nine-hole course in 1963. Spread across rolling, wooded hills, the course was crafted by re-purposing an old farm. The working cattle barn was even renovated to become the clubhouse. As the golf course garnered a local following, a new nine was added in 1990. The more than 25-year difference between when the two nines were constructed give the course a unique character. The layout seamlessly blends modern techniques and classic design. The distinct topographies of each nine add even more variety. Marengo Ridge Golf Club's original nine holes weave through mature trees while the newer holes are more open and links-style. There are several tricky doglegs throughout but it isn't overly punishing if you're errant. You'll also face several water hazards and strategically placed bunkers.

Great Shape. Excellent track.

It had been a couple of years since I played here. Got an excellent deal for a Sunday on Golf Now. The weather was a little off but it was good for us because course was wide open. This is really an excellent layout and the course was in great shape. I will be back.

Great bang for buck

For the $25 group golfer deal we got you cant match it. Wouldn't be the first course I choose because it's way out west but very fun to play.

Another pleasant day at Marengo Ridge

The atmosphere is the main reason I come to Marengo and is the reason it became my home course. I always feel welcome and pace of play is relaxed.

I am not a member, but I often feel like one because of the personal greetings by staff and owners. Since I tend to get to caught up with work, I "force" myself to play by purchasing their prepaid cards which I have done for the last several years, and because of their competitive regular prices and some great specials on GolfNow, I have been playing much more! When I don't play, I actually miss this place ;-)

Pace of play is comfortable for me, though it can get slow on weekends and holidays, but I am one who does not consider golf a timed sport and am more concerned with people on my back than I am with those in front of me.

Playing as a single often, I pace myself to avoid waiting long for any shot and when needed I will ask to play through and today was no exception. I only had to pass one 4-some that seemed to be kind of a log jam, but after that pace was comfortable. I finished round in 3 hours, needing to pass only 1 foursome conveniently a the 1st par 3.

Course was wet in some areas from rain night before, but did not affect shot-making. The main inconvenience is needing to play cart paths only on 3 and 17 - which is somewhat common to keep the fairways from cart damage. I've learned to play closer to the cart paths on those holes when needed especially on 17 which is a LONG walk across the fairway!

Despite the fact that the course lost a lot of trees from rough weather and insects the past few years, the course still plays challenging and in some instances has added new options of play for more fun.

Reconstruction removing tree stumps was not distracting, despite some large equipment. Course maintenance crews were courteous when needing to crossing my path and would wait for me to tee off or putt without my request.

Course is in great shape except for the tree damage, fairways plush and greens smooth (and green!). Many traps have new sand and likely the others will get new sand in future as its obvious improvements are being made.
Gravel cart paths on course are rough in some spots, but many areas have obviously been repaired, so no doubt the course will only improve over the summer.

Good shape for early in year

Greens were in good shape with true roll, tee boxes not fully grown in yet, traps a bit wet after a heavy rain, but very nice conditions overall.

Nice layout and great staff

The staff was very accomodating and the layout was fair but challenging at times. Some tight driving holes and plenty of trees. Would help to play here a second time to figure out how to manage your game on this course. Greens had been aerated 3 weeks prior and were OK. Value was excellent.

"A Must-Play Golfcourse"

It was a fantastic weather this Friday and what made it more fun was playing Marengo Ridge. First time playing this course after hearing from other golfers how the golf course is in excellent shape, and it never disappointed us. Greens are fast and we like the layout. The front and the back nine have its own different qualities. Very mature trees on the back nine and water in the front nine and a lot of doglegs. It is a very challenging golf course. Clubhouse is very nice and staff are very helpful. Definitely will come back with probably our company outing. If you haven't played Marengo Ridge, you should play it now before winter strikes. It is "A-Must-Play Golf course".

"Must Play Golf course"

It was an excellent Friday weather and our foursome are so happy that we choose Marengo Ridge to spend our day. Our first time here after hearing the excellent shape of this golfcourse, and it never disappointed us. Greens are fast and overall the golf course is in excellent shape. Friendly staff and clubhouse is homey. Front and back nine have two different qualities. More mature trees on the back nine and water on the front nine. Will come back here many more times before winter strikes. If you haven't played Marengo Ridge, play it now. Absolutely a "Must Play Golfcourse".

A Tale of Two Nines

It was the best of nine and the worst of nine. The back nine was the original 9 hole course. This 9 is older and more open, a wee bit less target golf than the front. There is a great view from the top of the tees on 13. Even if you are playing the forward tees go walk up to the top and enjoy the view. The front 9 is the new 9. It is tight and target filled. Not may places you can spray and play. Number 7 is maddening; long enough for driver but you have to hit it straight, if you miss, be ready to card a double.

The greens are always nice and the staff is great. Janet who works the bar makes you feel like you are at home. However, if Marengo Ridge were Dan Quayle in the VP debate with Lloyd Bensen, Bensen would look at Marengo Ridge and say, "Sir I know Blackstone, and you sir, are no Blackstone." Nonetheless, if you are in Marengo and need good golf cheap with great nature around you, then Marengo Ridge is in your wheelhouse.

Great condition, different kind of layout

The pace of play for our 7:28am tee time was terrific. Rarely waited and rarely was pushed. Very enjoyable. Course in great condition. The layout is not my favorite with a lot of forced 3woods or utility clubs off the tee. At least 3 holes using driver have difficult or awkward landing areas. Try the course, the pace was great.

Like this course

The 'Ridge' has pretty much been my home course. Somewhat challenging and in great shape. Could use some work on the cart paths, but overall a nice course. Staff is very friendly . Abundance of mature trees and enough water to make it interesting.

Decptive

Punishing if you don't hit the fairways. Water on the front is not viewable on from the tees. Trees are mature and will interfere if not in the fairways. Played as a single midweek and finished in under 3 hours. Well taken care of course. would recommend for beginner to more advanced.
