Marengo Ridge Golf & Country Club
About
Marengo Ridge Golf Club opened as a nine-hole course in 1963. Spread across rolling, wooded hills, the course was crafted by re-purposing an old farm. The working cattle barn was even renovated to become the clubhouse. As the golf course garnered a local following, a new nine was added in 1990. The more than 25-year difference between when the two nines were constructed give the course a unique character. The layout seamlessly blends modern techniques and classic design. The distinct topographies of each nine add even more variety. Marengo Ridge Golf Club's original nine holes weave through mature trees while the newer holes are more open and links-style. There are several tricky doglegs throughout but it isn't overly punishing if you're errant. You'll also face several water hazards and strategically placed bunkers.

Course Has Interesting Holes
Course in good shape, interesting holes to play.
Play was slow due to a threesome two groups up.
This type of experience is what is hurting golf today.
Having a player assistant would be helpful.
Great trac
Fun course, not for the easily frustrated. Challenging with plenty o doglegs, hazards and rough. Imagine weekends can be slow because of the amount of time spent looking for errant shots.
Great deal and easy to get a tee time
Nice course, reasonably priced and easy to get a tee time.
place to play
a wonderful local course, conditions were good, especially after the rains from a day before, tees a bit beat up. but greens were challenging and smooth.
if your looking for a different look for a round of golf, come to Marengo ridge, with the differences from the back to the front, it is a enjoyable place to play.
Excellent Value and fun course
Played in perfect conditions from the white tee, and at a very attractive online rate.
Greens and fairways very well manicured, fist and second cuts well defined and second / general cut around greesns very well kept.
Green pace was faster than expected for a course at such an attractive rate and concidering recernt heavy rainfall, roll found to be true almost without exception.
Many intersting holes and a thinking course with advance thinking well rewarded.
Off target drives were recoverable, the course being without significant primary rough, making the course / round enjoyable and sociable.
Straight drives rewarded and required on some holes, water lurks on many holes but rarely in play with well targeted drives, played from the white tees no forced carries over about 120 yds.
All in all congratulations to the greenkeeping staff on a excellently prepared / ,maintained facility.
Steve / St Charles
The course is absolutely good.
I took 1 hour and fifteen minute get to the golf course from north side of Chicago. Because 1. from above reason.2 Both side on highway you can see the view and a lot of shopping mall so beautiful when you go and you can see sun set when you come back . Try it you will like it and you will know what's I mean...
Course was in great shape
The greens and pin placement were challenging. The front nine is open, but the back really makes you think about club selection off the tee for shot placement.
Wonderful Golf Course and Conditions
Marengo Ridge has been on my must play list at least a couple times a season for many years. A newer front nine and a fun/quirky back original nine holes as well as superb course conditions (best I've ever seen at Marengo in 20 plus years) made for a wonderful round. Better yet we booked a round same day on a Saturday for a tee time prior to noon and virtually had the course to ourselves. If you've never played Marengo Ridge you owe yourself a trip here and if you've played here before you should come back now! Greens were great with good speed, fairways and rough mowed to a proper length and all the sand traps were raked! Some of the sand was inconsistent but all public courses have a few of those issues. I'll return to Marengo prior to this seasons end for certain!!
Very nice course
This is a very nice course. Well taken care of .friendly staff. Fortunate such a nice affordable course so close to home
Nice Course - Worth the Ride
Marengo Ridge is a nice, challenging golf course. The course condition is very good; the greens are typically fairly quick, though they were not during this round, due to the heavy rain the night before. The staff is generally friendly, and the clubhouse provides a clean, welcoming atmosphere for post-round meals or cocktails. It's well worth the ride.
Fun day withy grandson
In spite of days of rain, the course was in very good shape. Saturday brings out a lot of duffers so the pace of play was a little slow. There are plenty of challenges for every level of player.
Nice facility and great staff.
GREAT VALUE
MARENGO RIDGE IS ALWAYS RUNNING SPECIALS. WHAT A GREAT COURSE FOR THE PRICE. A GOOD HOUR WEST OF CHICAGO.
Awesome Golf Venue
1st time playing course. Grass tee driving range. Course very challenging but fair. Driver not always needed off tee. Greens not lightening fast but rolled very true.
We played as a twosome. On front nine we were behind three foursomes. At the turn, the ranger held the foursomes so we could play through. Played the backnine in about an hour and 30 minutes.
Course also had tees set up for young kids or those who don't hit the ball very far. Nice touch.
Risk-Reward opportunities
There are a few holes you can "cheat" if you're willing to take a chance. Most notably the short par 4-5th and short par 5-13th. This gives you a chance to press your bets. Make a decision.
Course in good shape. Greens are generally ok, although there are a few bare spots from ignorant players that do not repair their ball marks. The greenside bunkers need attention. Some are thin, others have rocks.

Great value and course condition excellent
I've played this course numerous times and course condions, playability and value have always been reasons to come back again and again.
A Gem In The Rough
This is a great course for the money. We played the blue tees, While it was not the most challenging course, It had it's fair amount of difficulties. The greens, tees and fairways were all in great shape. The help was extremely helpful and nice. This is a go out and enjoy course. .
Every day is good for golf!
We had a great time...11:51 tee time...3 1/2 hours...players kept moving...good mix of challenging holes.
Sand Traps
Traps Need to be deep raked and remove stones.
Play was slow, need marshall to say something.
Great value for the money.
Freindly staff.
My Favorite Course
Played this course 3-4 times and love it. On a weekday, I played 18 holes in 3.5 hours. On the weekend it took 4 hours. Both times as a single and did not have to play through.
Course is well maintained and very quiet. Highly recommended.
