Mt Prospect Golf Club

This place has officially become my go-to municipal course, and it’s not particularly close. The value is outstanding and the course itself is genuinely interesting and fun to play. Condition was excellent across the board.

It had been pretty wet when we played, but somehow the greens were still rolling decently fast, credit to whoever’s running the maintenance program. That said, the greens have some serious personality. At times they felt like the designer was trying to out-do a mini-golf course with the contouring. Reading putts here keeps you honest.

The bunkering is sneaky-good too. The sand traps are positioned to punish a wayward shot, but they’re small enough that landing in one feels like a personal failing rather than bad luck.

But the best part of the whole round was the pace. We had to wait a few minutes at the start while the cart staff fixed a push cart, so we teed off about five minutes late but it didn’t matter at all. The starter was understanding and courteous about it. Even with four of us walking, we comfortably kept pace with the group ahead and never saw anyone behind us. No ranger hovering around rushing people or interrupting the round. Instead, the beverage cart came by three separate times. That’s how you do it.

Waited on every tee on front nine 6-8 mins. Group ahead keeping pace, so no problem. Front nine in 2:38.

Back nine foursome in front of us informs us only twosome left in front of them.

Holes 10-13 1:20. 3 holes ahead of them open. We call clubhouse to get ranger out to be told they can’t get ahold of ranger (nap time). We skipped to 14 and then the upset group we jumped drove tees shots while we were in fairway.

Morale of the Story: Don’t expect anything from the Mt Prospect rangers to do anything about pace of play. We never saw him in 18 holes.

Course was in great condition. Pace of play was fair. My sons and I really enjoyed playing at MPGC.

Got a great deal on GolfNow. The course was pretty empty on Mother’s Day and the weather was good so we had fun. The course was in good condition and the greens were very fast making golf harder than my normal course. The group had fun.

Course is not long but layout is so good making this course as same as 6300 yards. Green is challenging. . Sand in the bunger is too hard in some holes but it is early season after plenty of rain. too.. I definitely will come back again.

Excellent challenging course for beginners! Difficulty on the greens and tighter on the fairways. Well maintained restrooms vendings bins etc are provided everywhere and great clubhouse! Great value for the price!
