Great course though almost ruined by a few things
This course is straight up just one of the best layouts in the burbs, hands down. Course really rewards good teeshots and good ball striking. Greens are incredible in their layout and speed. The course seems short (under 6500 yards from the tips) but keep in mind this is a Par 70 course. A lot of the par 3s are over 200 yards. Also at $50ish for walking in the afternoon, this is a fantastic deal.
What almost ruins this course for me is the following:
- Pace of play. You'll be lucky to get a 4 and a half hour round here. Assume it will be 5 hours. They just load the course up way too much. I kind of wish they would do less tee times and just charge $10 more per person.
- FORE. You'll be hearing that A LOT here since the holes are so close together. You have to be mindful of your surroundings here.
- The staff is very hit or miss here. They have a lot of kids working here and, to put it nicely, they are pretty empty up in the head. I almost missed my tee time because the kid at the proshop insisted I didnt have a tee time until he figured out he was looking at the tee times 2 hours from now. The marshalls are mostly nice but I had an experience where the foursome I was in was losing time on the threesome in front of us. We kept getting the hurry up by a particular marshall even though the group behind us was consistently one hole behind. "Well the cart screen shows yellow so hurry up."
- Lots of houses here. Your chances of hitting one is a lot more here than any other course I play out here in the burbs.
I do think it is worth it to play here but man they sure do make you really think about it.
Great Layout, challenging greens
Somehow we got lucky with a 1pm tee time with no one before or after us and as a twosome didnt catch up to anyone until the back nine. It definitely can get backed up so to get out in 3:45 was a real treat on a hot and steamy day. From the silver tees [6000yds] this can be a relatively easy course save for a few long par 4s. The greens are fast and many of them have steep runoffs or setup up like islands or pedestals. Conditions are always nice and the clubhouse has good food for after your round. Fun place to play...but will almost always be slow on the weekends or late in the day.

Long “short” course
Plays much longer than its yardage. Ball placement into the greens is critical else three putts are def in play. Course in great condition with range and chipping area.

Played here for years
Fun course to play, every hole is different. Greens can be a little bit overwhelming . Only thing that needs some TLC is par 3 tee boxes otherwise everything was nice. Help always nice.

Mt.Prostpect
Wow! I've played this course multiple times but I would say this to any decent golfers stay away on the weekends!!! I saw a ranger but I don't think he knew what was going on.

Crowded. Poorly maintained greens.
Golf carts are controlled in certain areas. It’s better to walk. Had a tee time and a group of five walkers were ahead of me. Greens are not maintained. Course arrangement is confusing. Iv never heard more “fore” in my life. I’d just use the range in the future.

Best putting greens in the area.
I really enjoyed the layout of the course and particularly the rolling and multi level greens.
I had heard that the staff was prejudice against non-Mt. Prospect residents. I did not experience anything at all like that. As a Senior citizen and a Vietnam era veteran I had a wonderful time playing with 3 younger golfers I met that same morning.

Children running on course
My golf game was severely impacted due to the children I was paired with for my tee time. Despite their late arrival they were still allowed to play behind us during our round. Their guardian did not correct the children’s horrendous behavior which included running into
Sand traps and putting greens on the course. Their shouting and unpredictability made for an unpleasant round as we not want to injure them. When I begin to think about our next golf game I will explore courses elsewhere.
