Hope you have nothing to do that day.
Course is fine but you gotta group people up if you are busy. I waited for 2 groups to tee off and hit their approach every single hole.
Great layout. Tough Greens.
Centennial is a great golf course. Well designed, with plenty of tee box options. Most second shots play uphill so its all about club selection, and angles to the greens.
Greens were excellent, and were a little slow, which is understandable given the time of year. Tees need some work, which I'm sure will be addressed iin the Spring. Fairways were good given time of year--dormant Bermuda--but soft due to rain. Centennial staff was friendly, helpful, and took an interest. Good quality range balls. Weather on this day was great for the time of year. Low 60's by noon. I'll be back.
Tough, but fun.
This was my second time playing Centennial. Overall this course has a great layout with challenging greens. The greens were in excellent condition, especially given the time of the year. This is one of the better courses in Knoxville, especially for the price.
Tough course but fun
The only thing that I can complain about is the driving range wasn’t open.
Centennial golf coure
Nice course. Wide open but sloping. No really thick ruff close to the fairways.
Greens are in pretty good shape and are fairly large.
Great Golf Course
This golf course is as challenging as it is fun. Fairways are perfect and greens roll fast and true. I would recommend this course to anyone looking for a place to play in Knoxville.
Greens need work - short course and some of the tee boxes are barely existent.
When the course tips out at 6,500 yards, you really should pay attention to the back tee boxes. They are not mowed to a level where you would expect a tee box to be at and they are very small and undulating (something I would normally say about a courses greens)...
Other than that the course is in good shape from the fairway until you get to the greens. The greens aren't great, they're Bent, it is October, wish they were better. Lastly, pace of play was awful. Part of the issue is their refusal to pair up singles and twosomes.
It has the potential to be a gorgeous course with a ton of fun holes, but it isn't there yet, and I doubt it will get there, unfortunately.
Fun track if you're looking to go play with buddies not too familiar with the game and drink beer - other than that, avoid if you're trying to improve your game.
Course has a lot of character to it.
We were on a trip to Tennessee Volunteer football game. We wanted to play a different course. Not a friendly staff whatsoever. Carts were the best I've ever had. GPS and music on the cart. Some unique holes and was challenging to me. Pace of play was extremely slow. Friday afternoon but with no marshal we figured it would be. I would definitely go back.
Good challenging course
Excellent thick fairways. Great layout with undulating terrain and course elevations. Greens tricky and hard to read. Some of the tee boxes were devoid of grass. Some of the low areas were mucky when wet. Carts were great with GPS showing yards to hole. Staff were sanitizing the carts when they were turned in. This is first time I have played and I drove 30 miles to get here. I WILL definitely be back. I like the course. The staff was friendly and briefed us on the course.
Beautiful Day for Golf
The greens were fast, the pace was a little slow. But that's not unexpected with PERFECT golf weather. Centennial continues to do a great job on course conditions. Keep up the good work.
Excellent Fairways, Overall Condition, Carts, Personnel
I give this course 5 stars. Between the tees and greens it was immaculate. Our cart was equipped with GPS, paths were in good shape. I loved the layout. There was a drive-able par 4 with some risk, 18 is a very pretty hole and a fun final approach over a ravine, 17 was cool too I felt it was a 3-shot par five but someone who can play a good cut might think otherwise, and there were other par 5's you can grip & rip and reach in 2. We played as 2 behind 4 and still finished in 3.5 hours, awesome. The young lady running the beer cart was nice. My wife and I didn't drink much but she still offered to fill our water bottles after the round when we saw her in the bar. I dinged one star for tees and greens. The greens, they were soft and I think people just need to fix their ball marks. Its not the course's fault. If you play, do them a favor and fix an extra ball mark on the greens. I'll be back.
Great course but a lot of blind shots.
Being built into the hills, many blind shots were encountered. Fairways were terrific, greens were pretty good too but abused by unrepaired divots(disrespectful golfers). Lots of terrain and elevation changes. Come out and enjoy. Staff were very pleasant and informative, even though we had a Golfnow Hot Tee time, that rarely happens.
Cart path only?
It wasn't until our cart basically stopped in it's tracks on the first hole, that we were aware it was cart path only. It was hot and humid, and the layout of the course is NOT conducive to this type of play. If I had known BEFORE we went out I would not have played. The greens and tee boxes were not in the best shape. Lots of big buds burrowing on the greens leaving half inch holes. Also, we waited every hole. The staff was very friendly.
