Avalon Country Club

I would normally give an excellent review but due to two greens closed without notice I can’t. I love this course.

Great course. Fun design and layout. Fairways are excellent. But they now have TWO temporary greens (They put a flagstick in the fairway short of the actual green). In my opinion, making the entire hole pointless to play. The remaining 16 greens in play are incredibly slow. Speeds were inconsistent and balls were hopping noticeably on any putt over 20-25 feet. If you care even in the slightest about your actual golf score this course with their current greens represent a terrible value. Will avoid this course until greens have improved.

I haven't played here in a while, and I loved it for the most part. There were 3 greens on the front in rough shape. #6 was actually using a temp green cut in the fairway. Other than those green issues, the course was in great shape, and I enjoyed the round.

They have lost one green and part of another. That happens. The course was in great shape otherwise. One of my favorites.

Not sure what has happened but they have quite a few greens that are on the verge of dying.

Not really sure what happened this year to some of the greens. I don’t know if they had disease or if they were scalped or possibly burnt with too much fertilizer. This reminds me of when Avalon had the trouble many years ago and had to completely redo theim and changed to Primo Zoysia. The last part three on the front green was in such bad shape that maybe 10% of the entire green was putt-able. There were three greens with extreme damage. This is almost as bad as Oak Ridge country club screens last year before the tournament. I would be embarrassed to charge what they’re charging until they get these fixed.

Umm, I don’t usually write reviews- in fact this may be my first but I just put this out as a warning for anyone thinking about playing this course. The layout is wonderful I love Avalon and its quirks- but today the greens were the worst I have ever seen them. In fact; the worst I’ve played anywhere in the vicinity. Think shaad road or whittle green conditions. On 3,4,5 and 11 they are pitted rutted and to be honest a joke and unplayable. For what they charge here (@75$) it is totally unacceptable. I will not be back.

Fairways were amazing. The greens were 50/50. Many were in good shape. Others were pretty bad.

The course is well laid out, and fun to play. The staff are all friendly and helpful. Great value, unlimited range balls included.

You can tell this was an awesome course at one time. Great layout, but it was in pretty ruff shape

The golf course was in pretty bad condition. Lots of GUR, rocks, etc. The cost to play with the course conditions was out of balance.

I would recommend the course if conditions improve substantially.
