Always A Challenging Round
I have played here before, and always like it. The course seems to hold water much more that others. And like most East Tennessee courses they also make the mistake of using Bermuda grass which is completely wrong for the climate. This time around the staff was super unfriendly for some reason.
Love playing here
Course stays in great shape, greens are good. Some were a little beat up from other players not taking care of pitch marks but not the courses fault. Relatively crowded but okay moved along well. Driving range isn’t the best, grass isn’t grown in and they apparently don’t move teeing area even though they close the range on Mondays. Practice green and chipping area were nice though.
Greenskeeper
Fairways and tees cut way to low in October so we are playing off dirt. Most cup locations were on a slant and some holes you have your back to the hole.
Okay for the time of year.
Layout was good, with risk reward holes. The only bad thing were the Greens were chewed up. My pet peeve is people not fixing ball marks on the green. The other two courses I’ve played, had tarps to cover the green to protect them. This course didn’t.
Great Challenging Layout
Very nice place. Course is challenging and in great shape. The greens rolled smooth. The rate is fantastic. They do have member that think 6 hour rounds are fine. I was hoping for a better pace of play.
Carts are holding it back from a 5star
The carts are awesome, they were the nicest carts I’ve ever been in, they were similar to the touchscreen club carts but they also had Bluetooth speakers, live sports and betting odds, but my one major complaint is that since it’s gps, it slows down at hills. However, is less of a slow down and more of a stop. I’d they fixed that it would easily be a top 15 course in the state
Ok
The course was ok. The course doesn’t drain well and was wet all day. Hasn’t rained in 4 days
Fun Course
Fun Course; has a few challenging holes but nothing too crazy. Course layout is nice and greens were well kept. Overall, fun course and worth the money
Centennial
I have played here numerous times before and had a great time. Our round started off waiting on two older women to tee off. Once they finally did we caught up to them and we had 4 in our group. We stood there and watched them walk back to their cart on the path twice before hitting. This repeated on our next shot waiting on them to clear the green. Once we made it to the green after 18 minutes a two some passed us on the cart path and went to number 2 tee box. They were looking a the two women when I walked up to my tees. They had to wait and so did we. They hit after about 4 minutes. We finally get to tee off once they are on the green. As I make my second shot I hear a voice I don't recognize and when I turn around and head back toward my son I realize the starter was talking to my son. As I approach he jumps on his cart and starts to leave. I stopped him and he jumped off a came my way and was very argumentative. He said you are 11 minutes behind pace and I said no way it has to be more than that. He was very rude and argued that we didn't wait on anybody. Not to mention he can't even see us after the women's tees on hole 1. He told me the 2 men that passed us while we were on number 1 had been told to do that by the course manager because one of them was late. (Guess that was our fault).Sure would have been nice to have know this before this useless altercation. I am not impressed at all with how this was handled. We live 5 minutes from this course and most likely will not be back.
Waiting For Peak Season
Would love to play this course during its peak season as the design is challenging, something I really enjoy. There are holes that really give you a chance to show off your driver and many other holes you really need to think through.
The course was aerated and there was a bit of standing water/mud around the greens which is what impacted my rating the most of this course. There didn’t seem to be water on the course or a beverage cart on the day but the clubhouse was close enough and fast enough to get a quick drink before the 10th.
I’ll definitely come back as the scenery was amazing, a few wild turkeys walked across the fairway. I think I just visited this course during the wrong time. Will definitely try again.
Just way to wet even though it has not rained in days and greens are in poor shape because of it
Great course
Pace of play was much better than the last time we played at Centennial. Course has a lot of character and is challenging. Will always come back on our way to see the Vols play
Good course, but greens have lots of ball marks
Not the first time playing this course. I generally like this course, but would be so much better if people would fix their ball marks. One of the worst courses I play with this problem. Also played behind someone who didn't (or couldn't) pick up their feet when walking on greens. Left marks on most every green. There are numerous course that I play in Knoxvillle where you do not have this problem to deal with.
The course was probably one of the best courses we have played while traveling. Personnel there accommodated us and made the round of golf very enjoyable,, starting with the fellow at the pro desk to the starter, to even the guy fluffing up the sand traps.. Very enjoyable day. And the course was in premium condition. Would recommend for a enjoyable day on the links. Thanks, Mike Nichols Louisville, KY
Views!
Course has a mix of holes and unique layout that results in a lot of fun and spectacular views. We will be back!
Beautiful Course
The course is a beautiful one through the rolling terrain of Oak Ridge. The first hole is a bit intimidating but does open up after that. Greens are SUPER soft so expect to leave a divot, even on a pitch shot but that also allows you to attack the pins too. Also, don't trust the scorecard for distance. Make sure you use the GPS or you will be off on most holes. The GPS has speakers attached and you can listen to stations for music or pair your phone and play your own. Very cool feature!! I loved this course and want to play here again when I am in the Knoxville area!!!
