South course, practice putting green. I ran to the tee box ripped a drive down the middle. Third shot within 3 feet.(kick in birdie) but couldn’t find my Scotty Cameron putter. Oh No left it on the practice green. As I raced back to the tee I ask those I passed in the fairway. And those on the tee., & those who where waiting. Not one seen, or turn in a $ 300.00 club.. yes it was my fault for leaving it. But it didn’t belong to the person who stumbled upon it. So this is where we are ... ? This is who you’ve become!
The course is the best around
Taking in the quality with the greens and the openness this is probably the best course around especially for the price.
8 Minute tee times are Inexcusable with the current golf explosion
Saturday afternoon 1:16 tee time and the course is full of golfers on a cold and extremely windy day. Had to wait on every hole and finished at 6:15pm on a short and easily walkable course. 5 hours! The problem? 8 minute tee times!! Pace of play is one of the 3 most important criteria in choosing a golf course. Will not return here because ownership is so greedy that they reverted back to 8 minute tee times from the Covid 10 minute ones. With the golf explosion (and many new, bad and slow golfers coming out) that makes every course completely full and leads to slower play. I play courses with 10 minute tee times and pace of play is better. No excuse for 5 hour rounds other than greedy owners stacking the tee sheet 8 minutes apart. Also no ranger to try and keep the pace moving. Also inexcusable on a weekend with a full tee sheet.
Silver Lake South
A nice track with a bunch of dog leg holes . Course was in great condition. Played on a Sunday so pace of play was really slow. Expected
Nice course
The. Course is well maintained. Practice facility is great. We got an awesome rate thru Golfnow's hot deals. I would def be back!
Great course with plenty of challenges
We played a round on the South Course on a blustery day. The course provided some challenges and the greens were faster than expected.
Other than the slow pace of nearly 5 hours, we enjoyed the course and will return.
Good value!
Good Course but Pick Your Spots
Pace of play was terrible. Booked a 3:08 tee time but didn’t tee off until 3:20 with two foursomes ahead of us. Took 2.5 hours to play 9 which is ok for a Saturday but I paid for 18. Thankfully it was a hot deal so I had a cart and was able to get 15 holes in which was worth it for $22. Definitely need Rangers to do a better job as people don’t understand ready golf
Course is really well kept
The staff was really professional and helpful. It was the first time playing the course, it is challenging but very fair with wonderful greens. some of the best sand we had been in on a public course. We will play here many times a year, well worth the drive and great value
Pace of play issues
The course was over booked and no Rangers were out to help with the pace of play. Almost 5 hours to play 18.
Good course, horrendous pace of play
Rangers NEED to do a better job of forcing pace of play. Didn't even finish 15 holes and was at 4 hours and 40 minutes on the course. Absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
One of the better courses in Chicagoland
Silver Lake continues to keep its great reputation for a challenging and constantly well maintained golf course. I have always been satisfied with both the north, south courses and also the smaller Rolling Hills course where you can work on your irons. I highly recommend Silver Lake.
The course was in good condition based on high volume of play. The staff as friendly and helpful. Play was very slow on a Sunday afternoon. It was a 5 hour round.
Hello Nancy. Thank you for taking the time to review the course. We apologize for the delay of play during your round. This is by no means the standard we strive to achieve. We work hard to accommodate everyone who visits our course and to best control pace allowing everyone to finish in a reasonable amount of time. We will continue to look for ways to improve, and will use your comments as guidance in doing so. Thank you for playing North at Silver Lake Country Club. We hope to see you again soon.
Poor Course Management
We were back up anywhere from 2 to 3 groups on every hole. The pace of play was painful. Tried to get a rain check for the balance because it wasn’t fun waiting on every single hoke at least 5 minutes. Was told I couldn’t get a rain check for 9 holes because I already paid for a twilight rate. I get the policy but there was no way we had a fair chance of finishing the round at that pace. Was also told there was an outing causing the backup. Is it really fair players get penalized because the course doesn’t enforce reasonable course management? Sometimes there just are exceptions to your rules Silver Lake or start managing your pace of play.
