South at Silver Lake Country Club

First time playing the South course. It was an enjoyable round. The course was in great shape for November golf. Grounds crew kept the leaves in check for the most part. Staff was friendly. Course was not at all busy on veterans day. That 200+ yard par 3 is a tough hole but at least it has a drop area.

Considering it was early November in the Chicago area and 75 degrees was a plus. Silver Lakes always has there courses in great shape. We played 18 holes in about 3:45. The course is too difficult, but there are some challenging holes. We paid $17 with a cart.

Course in excellent condition, pro shop very accommodating, and dining room personnel very helpful for disabled veteran.

Course is very nice. Excellent conditions. The 1st tee was fairly full, and I was by myself. The starter Jim was very helpful and suggested I tee off on the back. That worked great and I played in about 3 hours. This course is definitely worth playing. Not going to be on the 100 best you can play list, but it is interesting with several interesting holes and normally in very nice condition. I would say both high handicappers and serious golfers would enjoy it.

Course is always in great condition. Staff is as friendly as it gets. Course was playable even after a lot of rain.

There was too many hackers for Friday afternnon..The Couple in fron of us were playing their second round of 18...5 hour rounds in 80 plus degrees and hard difficult time to hit ball . Very very frustrating evening

This was my first time playing this course and the the intertwining of the North and South course made going from several holes very confusing on which holes to go to. Also I felt that the layout of the course could pose a hazard for players either putting, getting off green or heading for the next hole in that you could be in the line of fire from an errant tee shot. Probably the most uneasy course I've played with regards to concerns about being hit from a shot. On one hole your cart path went in the line of a tee shot, and on tee box for #5 for the north, was perpendicular to the tee box of 14 for the south and if the golfer teeing off on the 14th made an errand shot to the right they could hit the golfer teeing off on the 5th hole. I saw several golfers confused on which holes to go to. It wasn't a hard course but just poorly laid out. I don't know if I'd go back and play the south. I used to go there and play Rolling Hills which is a good Par 3 course to get good practice.

Even though the pace was very slow, we had a great afternoon. The course is beautiful and well maintained. The rough was challenging ... but that's what you get if you can't keep it in the fairway.

Great course to play, very wide fairways but don't take for granted--keep focus narrow. Greens are fast when weather is hot and dry. Well-maintained greens and fairways. Clean porta-potties.

Great staff friendly staff. Very attentive to customers in terms of safety with the heat index at 90 plus they were very concerned about having enough ice cooled bottled water on hand for golfers playing early and late afternoon.

The bent fairways are fantastic. Greens are large and rolled great. Played in 2 hrs 40 min on a Tuesday afternoon

I loved playing this course I thought it was in excellent condition. Great pace of play. I am going back to this course soon.

I always enjoy playing this course. Yesterday the pace of play was extremely slow. It was caused by one foursome. They played extremely slow even after the ranger was called and talked to them. They were not allowing faster groups to play through. The closest group in front of them were 3 - 4 holes ahead of them I just thought playing this course later in the afternoon would have allowed us to play faster. I still enjoy playing Silver Lake - South course and intend to play it again.

Played both front nines on the north and south courses. Booked online on GolfNow for a 4-some walking rate of $15.95 at 5:26 pm. Upon arrival at the course we were notified that the rate after 5 pm was $14, which the overly friendly staff gave us, and was greatly appreciated. Courses were in great shape. Pace of play was slow, which is expected for cheaply priced twilight golf. Overall I give great marks to the course and especially the staff.

Great round for the price. A bit of a cluster to begin, while trying to get way too many groups off to start. but never an issue after the first hole. Greta round at a good price.

The T boxes can be very confusing at times. There were a couple of times when we almost T'ed off on the wrong hole. Other than that and we got stuck behind a club outing it is a great course to play.

I have played both the north and south couses here at Silver lakes and both are usually in good shape. Greens are usually soft and do not roll true because of the amount of play they get and other golfers not repairing their ball marks. Both courses have a great layout and a variety of holes

I have been away from the game for about 5 years and decided to make a come back. I came early and hit some range balls and practice putted for about 45 minutes. The course was in good shape but needed to be mowed in the rough in a lot of areas to make it easier to find my ball. (I hate fairways) I was also paired up with a father and son and we had a very good time and exchanged numbers to play again soon. The weather was nice about 55 degrees and partly sunny all day from our 3:12 tee time. The pace was excellent and we never caught up nor did anyone catch us. 4 hours and 15 minutes pace for the day. The staff was very friendly everywhere at the course and the whole day was as pleasant as you would expect. The reason for the title was I live very, very close (about a nine iron)to the course but never seem to find the time to get out and play. I will be back again very soon.

Having lived in the orland park area for years I've never given silver lakes a chance. After playing it for a cheap rate through golfnow I will promise to be back even if I don't use golfnow. The course was in great shape from the sand traps to the greens. The lady working the clubhouse was very friendly. All in all it was a great experience(minus the rain that cut my round short) 5/5 for the south course!
