Odyssey Golf Course
About
Odyssey Country Club is a challenging layout that was designed by Harry Bower and two-time U.S. Open winner Curtis Strange. Strange won in 1988 and 1989, putting him in the company of only six others in the century-long history of the U.S. Open. His influence is apparent in all the strategic elements of the golf course as well as the risk-reward options. This demanding layout is not exactly beginner friendly. Staying on the fairways is crucial or your ball will be met with deep rough. Water is also a prominent presence on the golf course. Twelve holes either feature a water hazards or play along the water's edge. Odyssey Country Club's 16th hole is memorable for its tricky island green, which naturally draws comparisons to the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass.

Poor condition
First time play this year. I understand lot a rain.
But no maintenance .
Totally poor condition.
No management.
Don’t waste your time - but if you do bring 20+ balls
I know Illinois has had a tough May with the rain, but I honestly don’t think the rough has been mowed in weeks. If you did not hit the ball on the fairway or green, good luck finding your ball. The “rough” is incredibly thick, finding your ball is nearly impossible because it gets buried . Probably went through 10-15 balls today and that is not anything OB or in water, just in the rough. Because of this, the pace of play was terrible, not to any golfers fault - no one could find their ball. The course was 90 degrees on the fairways, and there was some wet areas which is completely understandable, but the lack of mowing for the entire course was incredible. Also of note there was a wedding going on just off the 9th green, and a concert playing in the background - don’t recommend going on a Friday.
If you get a deal to play here - make sure you tack on another $20-30 in balls that you will inevitably go through.
Great deal
Course was in good condition even with all the rains. Greens were true. Rough was a little long. Lost a couple balls within 20 feet of the greens on approaches that hit the green but rolled off.
The course has a nice layout and is challenging. However, the rough and fairways are overgrown. There are tall weeds growing out of the fairways. If the ball goes into the rough it is nearly impossible to find your ball. It is a nice course just needs to be better maintained.
Great layout, terrible condition
This course has a great layout but the conditions are always terrible. It naturally drains poorly but there is no reason for the rough to be so awfully maintained. Every year I hope it will be in better shape and every year I'm disappointed.
Poor drainage
Course layout is great. But the condition is terrible. Used to be great but the owners aren’t more interested In weddings then the course. Some rangers and a cart girl would be good. Half way house closed. Overall not a good experience.
COURSE IS HORRIBLE . WET AND DOES NOT DRAIN WELL
NEVER AGAIN UNLESS WE DONT HAVE RAIN FOR SEVERAL WEEKS
Attention to details
The conditions of this course has fallen dramatically the last few years.
Great deal on Golf Now
We played in less than 3 1/2 hours as a threesome. Course is in very good shape for late spring
Odyssey - Course in great shape this spring
The course was in the best condition since I have golfed here the past few years. The greens and fairways were fabulous. Great job by the course staff!
Lots of sand and water
Bring extra balls challenging course lots of sand and water
better than expected
Course was in good shape compared to last time I played. There was a golf outing at noon that day, so I don't know if that was the reason.
Great course
One of the more challenging courses you’ll find in the Chicagoland area. Small greens, long par fours, blind greens, and beautiful waters make this course a no brainer for the cost.
Nice conditions; nice course
Course in great shape; greens rolled true and fast. Rough a little long made off-fairway shots a bit hard to find and then hit out of. Quick 3+ hour round, but bounced around a bit to bypass some slow groups. Course was open enough to allow doing that. Very nice layout; some challenges; always enjoy playing Odyssey even though my game was really off this day.
