Odyssey Golf Course
About
Odyssey Country Club is a challenging layout that was designed by Harry Bower and two-time U.S. Open winner Curtis Strange. Strange won in 1988 and 1989, putting him in the company of only six others in the century-long history of the U.S. Open. His influence is apparent in all the strategic elements of the golf course as well as the risk-reward options. This demanding layout is not exactly beginner friendly. Staying on the fairways is crucial or your ball will be met with deep rough. Water is also a prominent presence on the golf course. Twelve holes either feature a water hazards or play along the water's edge. Odyssey Country Club's 16th hole is memorable for its tricky island green, which naturally draws comparisons to the famous 17th at TPC Sawgrass.

Not what it used to be
The course is not what it used to be. Needs a lot of repairs. The food stands were not open. No starter at the 1st tee. Pace of play on the back nine was horribly slow because no one from the course was enforcing pace.
good for the prize and near my resident.
excellant course .every golfer should try and play.
Nice course
App worked great, no issues with booking. I like the course. It is a classic course, elevation changes, water, mature trees. Course pace was great. Only negative would be condition of course. Some areas had some damage looks like from drainage. Some pretty big damaged run off marks and damage to fairways. Over all not an issue just would be better if course was in better shape. Greens were great. Value is fantastic. Cart gps is a nice bonus too.
Dissappointed
I have not played this course in two years and the conditions were below average especially for the price they charge. Bunkers are terrible and the fairways can use some water.
Could be better
I want to be as positive as I can about this course. It just could be so much better. Almost seems like it's fallen on tough times. Just rough around the edges. Tee boxes were beat up, fairways were burned, but the greens were pretty good. Some challenging holes out there, especially when the wind is howling like it was when we played.
There are drinking fountains on several tee boxes, but they don't work. No coolers on the course at all, so pack some water.
The staff was generally kind, but the bartender was odd to say the least. Barely spoke a word and it seemed like a HUGE deal to ask for water or beers. I even tipped on the waters thinking it would loosen him up, but he didn't budge. Not friendly. At all.
All in all, it was a nice layout. Challenging Par 3s. Loved the island green. Plenty of water to contend with. Could be a special place if money was pumped back into it. Hope it survives.
Turn for the worst
Once a beautiful course has really taken a turn for the worst. Fairways beat up, not taken care of, sand traps hard/ gravel like. Overall condition of course is poor, not maintained at all. Shame to see it go down hill.
Worth a shot!
Got this for a pretty good deal for a Friday afternoon. Course in pretty good shape but pace was excellent. Done in under 4 hours
Not Good
Course is in bad shape. Not even worth the discounted price I payed.
The Course needs help
Overall decent course if you can find a hot deal for cheap. The course is lacking upkeep and just needs some more help to fix the little things. The fairways and greens were in pretty good shape but the bunkers need to be redone as they are pretty much a thin layer of sand and mud below it. Also need to pull the weeds in the bunkers. This course can be really nice if the upkeep is changed.
slow & poorly maintained
This course was built to be a premier public course in IL. The layout is good and can be difficult from the tips, the course is poorly maintained. The fairways had many dead spots and muddy spots. The fairways were hard to find balls in because of all the flowering weeds. The bunkers were horrible..like playing out of a litter box.
The Odyssey
The fairways, tee boxes, and greens were in great shape. The rough was not attended too well but if you stay out of it like you should than it was fine. Played on a Monday for $26 through Hot Deal on Golf Now app. Great deal for this course. Breezed through first ten holes then held back a little #12-18. GPS on carts were very helpful and seemed like we had our own caddie. The golf cart was a little slow and could use more giddy up. Cart girl was very asseessable.
Played this course 2 years ago and vowed never to come back. Looks like they shaped it up better this time. It's not what it was 10 years ago but I would come back for the price I paid.
Marcomar
One of the nicer challenging coursecs located on the south side of Chicago.
Round 2...
My second round at OdysseyGC, both early morning rounds and no complaints on either. Played the BLUEs 1st time, WHITEs this time and both positions were fair for my skill level and playing partners each time. Thought the course was maintained fairly well. Some parts of some fairways looked like a bear chewed up the lawn but never came into play and plenty of space to drop. Some parts did not dran well and had to walk in "hidden" puddles but not an issue if you keep balls on the fairways. Fair, challenging Par 4s throughout and beware of the Par 5 Island Green which dog legs to the left on the back. 2nd shot important to put you in a position to approach in 3. Weekend price of $60+ decent. Aside from being far out of the way for me, I would go back and play in the early morning again.
Put this on your list of courses to play in the souther suburbs of Chicago.
Our foursome was able to get out after much rain had fallen earlier in the week. We were able to use carts in all areas and it was surprising to see how well the course had drained to make it quite playable. The greens were running true, although some ran slower than others, possibly because of all the rain recently. Overall, The Odyssey offers a nice mix of challenging golf holes which are pleasing to the eye.
The water makes this course very fun to play
Nice course, well maintained. The geese love this place
Good course but not great condition
Pretty facility but golf course condition was not great . Bunkers were terrible. Greens were rolling good.
Proshop had computer problem to check me in.
Worst conditions I have seen
The title says it all. This golf course is in terrible condition and is not worth half what they are asking for their prime time rates. I will not be back unless and until I hear they have decided to once again put effort towards running a golf course properly. I was very disappointed and it made for a round that was just not at all enjoyable.
Course conditions disappointing for early spring
I hadn't played the course in a few years. I was really surprised by three things. (1) One man at the pro shop was openly complaining that the other male employee was leaving him as he was backed up and having problems with the computer. This went on for about 10 minutes, (2) The dandelions were everywhere on the course, (3) The greens were nicked up this early in the year, (4) There was rain early in the morning and despite an afternoon tee time there was a lot of standing water in the fairways as the course did not drain. Still the course is convenient to where I live, had moderate challenge and was an excellent deal due to GolfNow, which made the above items noted less annoying.
Odessy
Bunkers in bad shape and dandelions need to be cut they were everywhere but can't beat the price so it was worth it.
GolfNow Deal
got great deal for golfing, but course could use some TLC. Looks like the Odyssey Club is more concerned about banquets and not the golf course
