not quite spring time Photo submitted by snareg on 03/09/2015
Great course for the price.
This is one of my favorite courses to play in the St.Louis area. It is worth the drive to come play this course. The course is challenging but fun to play. Acorns layout rewards both accuracy and distance on most of the holes. For the money it is one of the best deals around. Sometimes the course gets a little soggy after rain, however that would be my only negative of this course.
Good but not great
Got a hot time from golf now for $16 so hard to complain about much for that price. The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in very good shape. The only part of the course I did not enjoy was that the rough was very, just that, rough. Sparse grass in many spots, already beginning to burn out. I probably wouldn't pay the normal price for the hath is course, but for the prices you can get on golf now, definitely worth it.
Winter golf
I had a great round of golf at the Acorns even though it was about 40 degrees and windy. The girl working inside was very professional and the price was rock bottom thanks to a GolfNow hot deal. The greens rolled very well for February in central IL and the fairways were in good shape as well. I'm looking forward to playing this course again in the spring.
Acorns - The Squirrel is still looking
Fun Course with some challenging holes. The Acorns layout is fun, scenic, and impressive. Low scores can be made if and only if you hang out in the fairway or at least just a little off the fairway. The staff was very friendly...Loved playing there.
A hidden gem
This is a great course out in the country that I found while traveling through the St Louis area. It is a very well designed course that is fun to play. It is difinitely worth the drive.
Acorn's A'ssss
Enjoyed course, some fairways a little rough and around the greens!
Great time on the links
Well maintained scenic course with fast greens and challenging pin placement made for a day to remember with friends.
3 in the rain
The course was fine except for some grab grass on a few greens.
Good outing.
Due to the heat and humidity, two of the greens were in bad shape. The rest of the course was in very good condition. This is not just a flat links course. It has some great dog legs, blind shots, elevation changes and well placed bunkers to challenge every level of golfer. We enjoyed playing this course and will go back again.
Staff and grounds crew were friendly and courteous.
friends need a cc
my buddies said it was in pretty good shape although some greens had bare spots which is typical this time of year. #15 had a new cart path which was disruptive but necessary. always hot and humid in august. wish i could have been there.
Probably the Best Fairways Around
Acorns has a great, interesting layout. Especially the 18th hole which involes a decision of risk/reward from the tee box to try and drive 275 yards over a lake to get to to the green or taking a longer route to the hole going around the lake.
As far as conditions, the fairways are probably the best in the St. Louis area. Teeboxes were also great. Only thing that needed some work is the greens on some holes. Mostly holes on the front nine. The greens had a few weeds growing on them and a large amount of unfixed ball marks.
Other than that, this is probably my favorite course in the area because of the layout and pace of play.
Great little course
Pretty fun little track here, if not a little straight forward
This course in great shape
Fairways and greens are in real good shape. People that work there are very helpful. nice course.
Acorn
This is not a difficult course but still very fun.
Worth the money.
Keep the ball in play, and you will sorce well.
Nice Layout
Pace of play was good. Not pushed.
Best value in the area.
Acorns is always the best value in the area. It's wide open and in good shape every time I am there. It is my favorite course in the area minus annbriar.
Nice course for the money
Always enjoyed playing at Acorns. The fairways and greens were in good condition. Seemed like the greens were a little faster than the last time I played here, but that was fine with me. The rough was also taller than the last time I played which made it a little more challenging. The pace of play was good and didn't have to wait for anyone to tee off except the first hole. The course is relatively flat except a few holes. My favorite hole would probably be # 6. It is a par 3 that is downhill and over a small little pond. The clubhouse has more of a "bar" feeling to it which I really like. Seems like they have good daily specials throughout the week. Overall I think this course has good value for the money and will play here again.
