About
Bonnie Brook Golf Course, known amongst locals as simply "The Brook," is one of the most popular public courses on the North Shore. It has even been ranked as one of the top 50 public golf courses in the Chicagoland area. Designed in 1926 by James Foulis, the course has a classic feel to it with challenges that have withstood the test of time. The layout sprawls across a scenic natural landscape accented with gently rolling hills, tall native grasses, and sparkling lakes. The north branch of the Waukegan River also meanders through part of the golf course. The Bonnie Brook layout offers enough of a challenge for advanced players with narrow, tree-lined fairways and subtly tricky undulations throughout the spacious greens, but it is a round that is player friendly enough for any skill level to enjoy.

Fantastic deal! Great public course
Played Bonnie Brook for my first time and I was extremely satisfied with the course. The greens ran fast and true, which is always a concern for public courses. The pace was a littler slower than I like but we really enjoyed the course. The staff was great as well. For the price, it is an excellent deal. Definitely will be back!

pleasantly Surprised
I have always know where this course was, but never played it. The fairways were excellent and the greens were soft although a few holes seemed slower on the greens than others.
All in all, a very nice course. We will be back
The Jewel of the northern suburbs never disappoints.
The course is in pristeen condition. Never have a bad experience playing here. Glad it's also so close to home. Can't beat the Brook for a great day golfing. Gotta try the burgers when you're done!!
Great, friendly course
A fun, friendly Sunday afternoon. The course was in great shape. The layout is great, there are enough challenges to keep me interested and enough room to keep me from frustration.
Great course!
Very slow pace
Beautiful weather, course was in great shape considering the amount of rain over this summer. Greens were very quick and pin placements were in very challenging spots.
Play was very slow - two deep on some of the par 3's and we had to wait on every shot. Round was 5+ hours and basically took up the whole day for us.
Two suggestions:
1. Invest in a marshall on the course. Find the group that is slow and have them skip a hole to speed up play. Let that group go back to play the hole they skipped at the completion of their round.
2. A lot of the golf balls at the range are very old. May want to check which ones should be retired. Bad look.
I love this course nd 99% of the things about it. Great to have the grill working outside after the 9th hole!!
Course was still very wet but the staff are doing the best they can.

Great course for the value. I would highly recommend.
Almost like a country club
Great muni. Well maintained with a variety of holes that make you use a lot of the bag. A lot of trees but not pinching you. Very little water in play. Well groomed fairways with moderate sized greens that present a challenge.
Great clubhouse. Stayed after the round for the Friday night buffet. Great food at an awesome price. Dining room overlooks the course. Very nice!

Bonnie Brook is one great place to spend a day.
Course is tough but fair, staff is accommodating and friendly. The price is very affordable and the venue is one of the best here in Lake county.
