About
Bonnie Brook Golf Course, known amongst locals as simply "The Brook," is one of the most popular public courses on the North Shore. It has even been ranked as one of the top 50 public golf courses in the Chicagoland area. Designed in 1926 by James Foulis, the course has a classic feel to it with challenges that have withstood the test of time. The layout sprawls across a scenic natural landscape accented with gently rolling hills, tall native grasses, and sparkling lakes. The north branch of the Waukegan River also meanders through part of the golf course. The Bonnie Brook layout offers enough of a challenge for advanced players with narrow, tree-lined fairways and subtly tricky undulations throughout the spacious greens, but it is a round that is player friendly enough for any skill level to enjoy.

Great condition
This course is the best public golf course in the northern suburbs. Extremely well taken care of; kudos to the maintenance staff for keeping the course in great condition especially late in the season. Challenging golf course for all levels.
Old School parkland course
There are abundant trees on this old course which is always kept in good condition. There is a small amount of water and average number of sand traps. I always enjoy playing this course. Despite a high amount of rain recently we were still able to take carts on the course.
Good course, especially for the price
Bonnie Brook is a hidden little gem in the far north suburbs of Chicagoland. The course is adequately challenging, but also accessible for less skilled players. I’ve played it a couple of times and really enjoyed it, particularly given the price point. They don’t seem to have rangers and pace of play has been slow on both occasions since there have been really poor players that wouldn’t let groups through, so I wish they’d improve that. All in all though, a cool course with nice variety and worth checking out!

Loved this course
We didn't know what to expect from Bonnie Brook but it definitely lived up to the reviews. It could be one of the best public courses I've played in Northern Illinois.

Very well maintained public course that is fun to play, challenging without being unfair and always in great condition.
Best golf course in Northern Illinois
This course is in such great condition and exceptionally In great condition. The hreens are fast and fairways are wonderful. Kudos to the ground crew!
Foursome ahead of us
The 4-some ahead of us were glacial. We had to wait on a number of holes. A weekday round lasted like a weekend round.
