St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
The Sun was out!
What a great day golfing here today. I couldn't resist going today it seems like we have not seen the sun around as of late but today was perfect. The drive was not bad when you go in the middle of the day, nice easy trip out west. The staff here are the nicest people and really everyone we talked with were very friendly. If I had any complaints about the round would be the droppings from the tree on the greens or maybe leave a broom at each hole so we can sweep our line so we can putt.
Windy day
Course was in very good shape
Greens rolled true - fairly fast
Pace was good for a holiday
The course was very well maintained and all the staff that I came into contact with were very friendly.
Jemsek and golf go together
Staff is very friendly. The conditions are always good. The pace is sometimes hard to predict---but usually good. We enjoy playing both courses.
Good Value
St. Andrews offers two Parkland courses providing a fair test for golfers of varied ability. I especially enjoy playing here in the Spring and Fall, when the greens are being rolled but the courses are not yet being watered; when the greens are firm, both courses really shine. The friendly course staff, first-rate Proshop and world-class practice facilities all combine to make St. Andrews a good value for the discerning golfer.
everything was green. greens were good. fairways . played well.Had a good time. Glenn
Nice course. Over booked...
I made a reservation not knowing that there was an outing in progress. I was never told. I found myself as a single between foursomes... I had to walk off after 7 holes as I felt like I was pressuring the group in front of me and frustrating the group behind me. Not enjoyable at all...
Nice course and I am sure it would have been fine had the outing not been in progress. I would have appreciated being told and frankly probably should not have been let out knowing this.
Enjoyable Round
Great to get out on a beautiful day. Course had challenges and we had an enjoyable round.
Course in Great Shape
We played the Jemsek course (Lakewood). It was in good condition, the greens were in good shape, no recent aeration and they were quick. They could have been a little smoother but all in all in good shape. A couple of dastardly hole locations. Played the white tees which was about 6400. That brought most of the par 5's into two shot range - which is fun. I got a great golf now price and can highly recommend the course at that price.
Good test of golf for amateurs
I'v played this course many times over the past 5 years. The fairways are in great shape. The greens were fast and firm and undulating. The bunkers were in good shape and the rough is growing in after the winter season. The par 3's are long for me. Most of the par 5's are reachable in 2 if you can hit 250 yard drives. Holes 3, 17, and 18 require shots over water which could be a challenge for beginner golfers. In fact if you are a beginner golfer the course could play a little hard.
