St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Lacking Customer Service
Played both courses back to back. Courses were in great shape and challenging. There was a miss-communication with the pro shop staff on the cost of the replay and staff was unwilling to work with my group. Overall, I would go back but there are other options in the area just as good.
Beautiful course
Beautiful course. Had a fun time playing here. Pace of play was somewhat slow due to slow players. I would definitely play here again
Recommended
We played after a night of heavy rain so there was some standing water in the fairways and the bunkers were in rough condition but overall this course was great, especially for the money. We played it back which was over 6800 yards is the only reason it was somewhat challenging. Otherwise it is a fair course that plays fairly straight with some challenging greens. Enjoyed it very much.
Slow greens
Fairways are great, greens however are super slow.
St. Andrew, Jemsek course
Played on a Sunday afternoon. Finished in 4.5 hours. Course was in great condition, Fairways and greens. Course was fair, nice traps, not much water until the last 2 holes. Cost was $34 on GolfNow. JJ's was nice place to eat afterwards. I will be going again, even though it is an hour drive from my house.
Nice course
Nice course greens were a little shaggy but rolled true with a lot of ondulation. Great sand traps
st andrews
Good course although a little expensive for the quality of golf compared to other courses in the area
Fun Zcourse
I am not a great golfer, but I enjoyed this beautiful course. The course is in great condition and very well maintained. This is a course for average to above average golfers.
Great Greens
Course is in excellent shape and the greens are fantastic.
Always liked St. Andrews #2 course
Wonderful course in excellent condition. Great value with Hot Deals - long par 3's - good last 4 finishing holes.
Father's Day slooow round
It was Father's Day so I was expecting a slow round but we left after 4 1/2 hours and 14 holes completed. The rangers were sparse and did nothing to speed up play. The course has many straight holes of short to medium length. It was in good condition and the staff was very friendly but the golf was over priced.
great course for a very reasonable price
Fun course to play that is fairly open with a few water holes. Greens can be deceiving. Plays fairly long which is nice to keep the driver out. Will play again if I am in the area.
Nice Historical Course
This course was rather straight forward and easy outside of the greens and par 3's. Long par 3's along with challenging pin placements. Overall, a nice course that is good for the casual golfer. Due to a few groups ahead of us, the pace of play slowed down a bit, but overall normal pace play.
Tough greens
Coarse was in great shape and very challenging , loved it
Jemsek course
Good course for the intermediate amateur player. Enjoy playing both courses.
Great course
I played both courses at st andrews and both were outstanding and u cant beat the price for the courses u get to play just absolutely amazing ill be going there many times this summer
Nice time.
Great time golfing with family. Course in pretty good shape. Some rough patches on greens but it is early season. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Had a foursome of drunken twenty somethings in front of us. We talked to Ranger and he was responsive.
Great day, average course
This is a nice golf course to enjoy a nice day. The holes are mostly straight away and the fairways are wide. There are enough tee boxes to play whatever length is comfortable. Some of the sand traps are mostly dirt that has been milled up with some sand. There are course rangers that do keep play moving and will assist in letting faster groups play through slower groups. There was a beverage cart but, I would suggest that they let the starter know if it is out (we asked and he didn't know). Also, the starter could have let us know that there was a beverage/food house located behind the 1st green!! All in all nice day with good friends on a nice day. Course rating - 2 1/2 Stars
Very nice round.
Played on a cooler windy day so pace was just great. Fairways were good, bunkers were a little dirty, but the greens were outstanding. Great staff as well.
