St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - Joe Jemsek Course
About
There are two championship golf courses available at St. Andrews Golf & Country Club in West Chicago as well as a top-ranked practice center. The Joe Jemsek Course, formerly known as the Lakewood, was added in 1929, three years after the club opened. Unlike the original St. Andrews Course, the Joe Jemsek Course has a hillier terrain. Although it is shorter than the other golf course at 6,770 yards, the elevation changes make it seem similar in length to the 6,920-yard St. Andrews Course. The course features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers, offering plenty of challenges but overall it is not an overly intimidating layout for beginners. There are several long and demanding par 3s throughout. The best example being the tricky second hole, which has a green that is guarded by two deep bunkers and towering trees.

Where My 2nd Shot Landed Photo submitted by DavePipitone on 07/25/2017
great february course
I have played St. Andrews many many times. It never disappoints. February golf, good weather, great price ($20..hot deals). Grounds crew even tended to the sand traps..in February.
Great Job St. Andrews
The pace was swift as fall was setting in, the biggest challenge this time of year is finding your ball amongst the fallen leaves.
Jensen course
Typical parkland course. Good helping of longer par 4's.
Fall Golf
Fairways and greens were great. Lot of leaves in the rough. that is my only reason for the 4 star review of the course condition
Leaves
Played here many times - no water on the course except at the halfway house, which is not halfway. We played through the group in front of us at the halfway house, which is adjacent to the 7th hole at the Jemsek course. As a result, it was the 1st time I ever golfed with no water, and therefore could not eat my sandwich. We spent quite a bit of time looking for our balls (three guys, single digit handicaps) as there were leaves all over the course. I realize that it is that time of year but this was rediculuos. They should use leaf blowers and ny guess is they have them all at Cog Hill, their featured courses. The two other courses I played this week have plenty of trees and we did not have this problem. BUMMER.
Horrible Experience
A round shortened by inconsiderate golfers who drive carts on tees and greens. I was a single, and these 2 significantly older gentlemen, who apparently must have owned the course since they were driving on the greens, wouldn't let me play through as single. There was a ranger who asked how my round was, stated my case, and he drove off the other way.
I felt honored to play 8 holes in almost 2 1/2 hours as a single behind the owners of the course.
I left after 9 holes because there is no need to add more frustration to a frustrating game.
Won't be back after that experience. Too many other courses that actually care about all of their guests.
this course has two swan at parking lot to welcome you
4+ stars in general
very good 19th hole worth 5 stars.
beautiful scene of swans staying.
Nice course
Not a bad track, this course gets a lot of play but they manage to keep it in good shape, Got held up by a 5 some a few weeks ago and got no help from the rangers.
nice
good time wii play again don't hit into the wood
Don't think we'll play again
They had a fivesome on a crowded course that fell 2 holes behind and did nothing about it. The greens were bumpy and slow. It's a good thing it was a nice day and they paired us up with a nice guy.
Great Place To Play
If your looking for a great place to play where the course is in great shape, why not come and play at St. Andrews, the price is right and the food is even better & you can't beat the service.
whateve
Nice conditions, well maintained. Straightforward course.
Nice old style course w/a great practice facility
Got great hot deal for a beautiful Friday afternoon round. They have 36 holes, and we played the Lakeside (now called Jemsek) course. Mature course with lots of big oaks, some water hazards and excellent greens. Cart was included in the price, but this is a very walkable course, and range is the nicest in the area. Clubhouse is decent as well.
Long challenging greens but a fun place to play. I haven't played course one I hear that's more danger and doglegs
Cruised right through the round starter got me out there before my tee time and was nice. Challenges any kind of player. Definitely would go back
good golf experience.
the sand traps were in terrible conditions. Overall a good golf experience.
Straight and boring
We played Joe Jemsek...not much to this course. Fairly flat, straight, not much water, and bunkers were fairly easy to avoid. The rough wasn't too thick, but trees came into play most holes. Fortunately my drives usually ended up far enough right I could easily hit it over the trees, but one of my partners had some trouble with big tree trunks. Overall the course was fairly easy and not very exciting, I was expecting more. The range is nice, and we saw the cart girl several times. It was incredibly humid the day we played, so the course was almost empty and we played at our own pace. We saw the ranger several times and he always seemed nice. The only water is lukewarm water fountains, could've used some ice water jugs.
We are very sorry to hear about your experience. We would like to talk to you about your round. Please call me.
