St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Great course! Great value!
Greens were in mid season form compared to other courses in the area! Played on a Thursday afternoon.
Pace of play was great under 3 hours!
Great value for the price!
Go play it!
A Local Gem
I have been playing at St. Andrews for about nine years now. Playing when I was first introduced to the game, all through my four years on the high school golf team, and through college. It's a great course to go out and play 9 or if you are looking for a days worth of golf 18 is always a great option here. I rated this course with an overall rating of Good, not because of anything with the staff or club itself, but because it is a public course that is played heavily by company outings, local high schools, and by both beginners and advanced players, the pace of the course can vary. For myself and the group I play with we average 9 holes in about 2 hours give or take a little bit of time, but that does vary on the time that we tee off at. Early morning tee times are about an hour and 45 for 9, whereas a 3 PM tee time will take about 2 hours and 15 or more. Definitely a great course though and twilight golf is a recommened option to get the best bang for your buck.
Great Condition, Early in the Year
I love this Course, on march 7th, the course played like it was may 7th
Pleasantly Surprised
Though it was late in the year the course was in excellent shape. Large greens, wide fairways yet big trees with fall colors made for an enjoyable time. Good price too!
Great course for the price
I had not played here since the 1980's. What a great round of golf. We played the #1 course and it was in perfect condition. Most green are aerated by this time, but the greens were in superb condition. Challenging, but fair. We found a new favorite corse.
Love the Big Greens
It was in great shape. The greens were fast and true. Great lay out. Nice bar. Pro shop guy was friendly. Had a great day.
Greens awesome
Course is in great shape. Fairways too. Leaves can still be a problem off the fairway when looking for your ball. Played the Lakewood course.
Great Value
Wonderful round of golf. Conditions on the course were great. The pace of play was excellent. The course is beautiful old growth that makes the round even more enjoyable. I will be looking forward to playing there again.
nice round
Very friendly staff and great pricing. second time playing here this year and the greens were faster and truer. fairways a little shaggy but with freshly cut greens I really enjoyed my time.
Not Impressed
I've heard about this course for years and how I need to play this track. The facilities were excellent! The club house, bar and banquet rooms. The course needs work, especially on the greens. Pace of play was slow and that's with rangers driving around. I will not go back. Did not eat the food but from the smells and looks of it, the food looks really good. Staff was really friendly and helpful.
Very slow play
It took 1 hour to play holes 10 and 11. I left after the 11th hole. I've played this course for nearly 20 years. The pace.of play seems to get worse every year. This is the primary reason I now rarely play there anymore.
why is a title necessaaary
fair ... in good condition ... challenging.
will definately play it again
Slow round
Pace of play was extremely slow, course had been airated just before we played so the greens were not in the greatest of condition. It was playable, but not as enjoyable as it has been in the past as it was really slow.
Great Course
Played this course for the first time and have to say I am very impressed. The fairways were in good shape for the time of year and the greens played fast. When you play this course you don't even feel like you are in Illinois. Thank you again for a great time and can't wait to play you again. I also look forward on bringing a few friends with me the next time to make it evwn more challenging.
Nice course for money
Course kept in good condition for amount of play. Typically has openings available on weekends. Downside is if very busy there are inevitability five somes that slow down pace of play.
Greens are outstanding!!!
This course is in great shape. Very challenging and lots of fun
Early play
I was the first off the tee so pace of play was not an issue. Been a while since I played this course but overall it was in pretty good shape. Did not eat at the facility so I cannot give it a rating for that.
It is ok
Generally, it is ok. It was playable. But two holes are too close so I have encountered other players too many times on my course.
