Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.

St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

An ordinary course, getting worse

I was a bit early on a wet, foggy, and windy day. I was told i could not tee off early, even though the there was plenty of room in front of me. I had to wait until the next group arrived and only then I was allowed to tee off. "We go by the tee time schedule" . I was told. So reporting early is a bad idea on this course.

I see some improvements,,, they are resurfacing parts of the cart path. The fairways have poor drainage. Even the greens had puddles of water. I know it is cold weather, but they could at least squeegee the greens!

Solid course and conditions

Great practice facility.

Trackman on the range.

Separate chipping and putting areas.

Course in solid shape.

Grounds crew has done a good job of removing leaves.

Course is not overly difficult. Not a lot of hazards.

Seemingly tight fairways, but alot of room to play from if you miss.

Greens ARE difficult. Lots of turns and elevation. Almost no flat areas. 4*,5* of breaks, double breaks and mounds.

Fall golf

Gorgeous day but windy. Leaves were a nuisance, but maitenance were blowing them off the fairway. Lost a couple of balls in the leaves in the rough, but that's ok! Nice to just be playing on Oct 29!

Rip off

Place is an absolute rip off. We were told online it was 51 to walk so we assumed it would be around 68-70 to ride. They Apperantly changed the prices from the time we saw the price to to the hour later when we booked. The greens are aerated and sanded and there was no mention of that either. Was charged $85 to play here this course is not worth more than $70 in good condition let alone $85 for trash condition greens

Wrong direction

The new home of the weekend 5 hour plus round and it seems like no one cares that works there…it is what it is ‘they say… unfortunately this place has been heading in the wrong direction for quite some time… I feel they’re more interested in the bottom line $$ than the golfer’s experience, wish they would run the 2 courses like they run the practice center…fingered crossed they figure it out sooner than later. Still a a fun short tree lined track, greens are on the slow side and bunkers definitely need sand.

Beautiful day, wonderful course

Always enjoy playing here. The course is great for mediocre players like myself. Only negative is you can’t take your cart to your car to load or unload your clubs. It’s minor complaint for most, but it can be an issue for seniors. I sometimes go elsewhere to play for that reason.

Wonderful day of golf, the pace was quick (especially for the first time through a course) and the course was in good shape. Would definitely try to come back.
