St. Andrews Golf & Country Club - St. Andrews Course
About
Opened in 1926, in the "Classical ERA" of U.S. course development, St. Andrews Golf & Country Club has been recognized as the oldest family owned-operated golf course in Illinois.
St. Andrews Golf & Country Club was originally built in 1926 as a rival to the Chicago Golf Club. Since then, the club has built its own reputation and stands out for its two championship golf courses and top-ranked practice center. The St. Andrews Course is the club's original layout before the Joe Jemsek Course was added in 1929. It is also the longer of the two golf courses. The club and course draw their name from the famous Scottish club known as the "home of golf," but the course is far from being a seaside links. Instead, the mostly flat layout weaves through mature trees. The golf course offers a challenge with tight, tree-lined doglegs and large, contoured greens framed with sand bunkers. It has a memorable finish with a par 4 that features a water hazard along the entire right side of the fairway.

Another round of golf in March
Golf course was in excellent condition, greens had been sanded earlier in the month , but were rolling very nicely since we’ve gotten some rain .
march golf in chicago
course was in great shape for mid march . only problem was that the greens had been sanded , so that caused some concern .
Spring Thaw
For mid March the course is in good shape. The greens are still thawing out but they rolled true. I usually play most of my off season golf here thanks to 36 holes and decent greens fees.
Rock bottom GC
This place used to be a golf Mecca in the west suburbs , a fun place to go practice, play or even eat and drink, unfortunately the days are gone…Mr. Joe Jemsek must be turning in his grave… no way is this place is worth anything more than $40 with cart, definitely not a 70.00 value …I would recommend other courses in the area until they hopefully turn it around And keep a legacy alive and strong. Wish them the best but I do believe I’ve played my last round here.
Fun winter course
I like St Andrews both 18 hold courses are fun
I do prefer course 2 it’s more challenging.
My only issue is that even though they are open in the winter they charge to much. Over 30 dollars to walk a snow coved course with 3 other people playing not good business.
So try to find a deal or skip this course
Fun course
I like St Andrews it’s simple, well kept, and open in the winter. They have two 18 hole courses so unless they have a huge outting on one of the courses pace of play is always pretty good. Today was only 27 with gusty winds so it felt like 14F so not to crowded about 20 people on both courses. They have all their carts covered in the winter so it’s not bad. I choose to walk for exercise and only 19 dollars.
You do stay warmer walking.
The staff is so nice and professional the employee greeted us at the door and asks for use by name so nice. I like the course and the other golfers here are always nice.
Winter wonderland
For mid December the courses were in good shape. Covered carts are available though cartpath only was the rule. We still finished as a group of three in about 3 1/2 hours. A good day was had by all!!
An ordinary course, getting worse
I was a bit early on a wet, foggy, and windy day. I was told i could not tee off early, even though the there was plenty of room in front of me. I had to wait until the next group arrived and only then I was allowed to tee off. "We go by the tee time schedule" . I was told. So reporting early is a bad idea on this course.
I see some improvements,,, they are resurfacing parts of the cart path. The fairways have poor drainage. Even the greens had puddles of water. I know it is cold weather, but they could at least squeegee the greens!
Solid course and conditions
Great practice facility.
Trackman on the range.
Separate chipping and putting areas.
Course in solid shape.
Grounds crew has done a good job of removing leaves.
Course is not overly difficult. Not a lot of hazards.
Seemingly tight fairways, but alot of room to play from if you miss.
Greens ARE difficult. Lots of turns and elevation. Almost no flat areas. 4*,5* of breaks, double breaks and mounds.
Fall golf
Gorgeous day but windy. Leaves were a nuisance, but maitenance were blowing them off the fairway. Lost a couple of balls in the leaves in the rough, but that's ok! Nice to just be playing on Oct 29!
