South/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
About
Arrowhead Golf Club is home to a 27-hole course that is considered one of the best municipal plays in the Chicago area. The holes are divided into the South, East, and West nines, which can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. Water hazards appear on 17 of the 27 holes and there are 77 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Each golf course provides a challenging but different round. Although the club opened in 1927, the South/East Course was renovated in 2011. The course retained its challenging character but it was made more playable for a range of skill levels. In addition to the water and bunkers, there are mature trees throughout the course. Arrowhead G.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice facility that includes a lighted driving range, putting green, chipping green, and bunkers.

Good Solid Course, and Solid conditions
Though they get a lot of play, Arrowhead is in pretty good shape. We have played twice now, both times at 3:30PM, so you expect the greens to be a little ratty and beat up. The rest of the course is spectacular. Not a weed to be found, with thick and plush rough and well conditioned fairways. Bunkers are better than some private clubs. Halfway house had fair prices, I didn't feel ripped off. The rack rate of $72 is a bit high, but this is definitely an above average public course.
We found a great deal on golfnow for about $50 pp on a Friday afternoon. Course is in great condition and the holes are interesting. I was not aware of how close the OB left is on number 9 from the driving range but otherwise we really enjoyed the round. The course features a very nice clubhouse and beverage cart service.
This is a really good course to play and challenge you game to the fullest. This is course to hit the target and will not really need to use th driver all the time...three wood, long iron. Rescue club might be the better choice. Greens are fast and fair with a true roll. BR Jeff
Great Course
We thoroughly enjoyed our round. Quick play under 3.5 hours. Attendants were exceptionally nice. Course was in great shape!
Fun and challenging
Great layout and great clubhouse. Course was in good condition with the exception of the green on #1. Very tight on back nine.
Great Value!
Course, Club House, and Staff are great!
Putting greens
The course layouts were ok! Nothing special. The greens were inconsistent and slow!!! Horrible greens!!!!! I would ask for my hot deal $$ back if I could. How people pay regular price is beyond my comprehension.
It was a beautiful day for golf!!!!!
Exactly average course for everthing
Too slow pace for west course
Well maintained, fun layout
Excellent facility with good selection of tees for all players. True greens, faster than most public courses. Nice restaurant.
Beautiful course .
Play here for the first time , very happy with the course condition. Also nothing can beats Falls golf here
Course Condition
Aeration of greens not revealed until checking in with staff. A RIDICULOUS amount of sand on all greens...sucked the fun right out of the round!
Great layout...I just picked the wrong week to play here
Thank you for the feedback. We try to let everyone know about the aeration when they book over the phone, but when you booked through GolfNow that wasn't possible. There was a warning on the booking page but it is small and easy to miss. We are working with GolfNow to see if a larger warning can be posted so nobody is surprised when they get here. We hope you give us another try when the greens are in better shape.
Interesting
This is the first time I have paid for my own round at this course. Others have paid for me, just because. But as I walked in to pay, I was charged $40 for 9 holes but the guy I was playing with, had to pay $20.
The greens began to be airrated and so they had sand all over them and it was impossible to put. I have been told by many regular golfers that, I should have been told about it and been able to ask for a different 9 hole course.
But I guess life is just life.
Thank you for your feedback. We generally hear exactly the opposite comments about our greens, but there are chances for some inconsistency as we start to grow them out a bit in preparation for the winter. We hope you give us another try in the spring.
