South/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
About
Arrowhead Golf Club is home to a 27-hole course that is considered one of the best municipal plays in the Chicago area. The holes are divided into the South, East, and West nines, which can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. Water hazards appear on 17 of the 27 holes and there are 77 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Each golf course provides a challenging but different round. Although the club opened in 1927, the South/East Course was renovated in 2011. The course retained its challenging character but it was made more playable for a range of skill levels. In addition to the water and bunkers, there are mature trees throughout the course. Arrowhead G.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice facility that includes a lighted driving range, putting green, chipping green, and bunkers.

The course was in great shape, and we had a great lunch in the restaurant afterwards
Country Club quality
I live in Glen Ellyn so I play Village Links often, and this was my first time at Arrowhead this year. I must say the Greens, Fairways, and Traps are phenomenal, country club quality. The East course is the best 9 as the other two are kind of back and forth par 4s.
The outside halfway house is convenient, but they gave me a cold Brat and a warm beer which I didn't notice till I was on the East #1 tee, so I didn't want to go back.
This place is a little pricey at $89 weekday rate, I got it on Golfnow for $70. Make sure you practice putting before playing bc the greens are lightning fast. Great course!
Need more staff.
Let me start by saying I really like Arrowhead, the layout is awesome with a nice mix of gettable and challenging holes. The issue here is pace of play and more importantly the wait at the turn. With three nines and a patio area that is adjacent to where everyone makes the turn or stops after 9 holes for refreshments; having just one person working the turn station is not enough. The line was 6 deep and most of those people were just hanging out after their round. No chance for anyone playing 18 to grab and go. Nice place otherwise.
Amazing course
Amazing course with challenging holes
Greens are extremely hard and rolling fast
Expect greatness
You know what you're getting here every time you play. Great course with great conditions, a friendly staff, and a good time.
Great course with great staff
I had a great time at arrow head. The course was in tournament shape when I played. The course layout was excellent and the conditions were phenomenal. The greens rolled very fast!! On top of the great golf experience the staff was very friendly and attentive. The cart girl was checking in about every 4 holes in case I needed refreshments or a snack. Overall, I had a 5 star experience.
Lost The Greens
I grew up at this course and I’ve watched them try to turn the greens into the fastest-in-the-area over the last few years. They’ve certainly done that, but at this point they have gone too far. The course was borderline unplayable, as I told the staff at the end of the round. “Some guys like fast greens, some guys like slow greens,” he responded. Well, not really, pal! The balls oscillate on the greens in the wind. The greens have to be patted down to place your ball. Combined with how hard the ground is in April, staff should consider dialing back its obsession with slick greens. It was a fun project, but it has gone too far. Play Cantigny if you’re considering Wheaton public golf.
Arrowhead GC
One of the best golf courses and greens in the western suburbs of Chicago. Highly recommend playing this golf course!!!
Great condition
Greens were aerated, but overall the course was in great shape.
Great layout
Great layout. Fast greens. Excellent conditions. Great amenities with food and drink options.
Fall Golf at Arrowhead a delight
Course was in great condition and despite the fall foliage and fallen leaves, pretty easy time finding our balls. Greens were recently aerated but still rolled true. Always enjoy our time at Arrowhead
