South/East at Arrowhead Golf Club
About
Arrowhead Golf Club is home to a 27-hole course that is considered one of the best municipal plays in the Chicago area. The holes are divided into the South, East, and West nines, which can be played in three different 18-hole combinations. Water hazards appear on 17 of the 27 holes and there are 77 bunkers strategically placed throughout. Each golf course provides a challenging but different round. Although the club opened in 1927, the South/East Course was renovated in 2011. The course retained its challenging character but it was made more playable for a range of skill levels. In addition to the water and bunkers, there are mature trees throughout the course. Arrowhead G.C. also boasts a comprehensive practice facility that includes a lighted driving range, putting green, chipping green, and bunkers.

Aeration Made Greens Tough
Course was in pretty good shape but they aerated everything. Before booking, it would have been nice to be notified. Aeration didn't affect the fairways but greens were tough because of it. Ball was bouncing around and putts were missed because of it.
Best public greens in the western suburbs
Played this golf course (South/West) this morning at 7:20 am after heavy rain overnight and the golf course was in excellent conditions everywhere. I expected the pro shop attendant to tell me cart paths only but they had no restrictions other than the 90° rule. Kudos to the golf superintendent and his staff for today’s golf course conditions. If you have not played this golf course, I strongly recommend it and be prepared to play the fastest public greens around!!!
Great layout variety with 3 - 9 hole courses. Their website can give you a decent overview of the entire golf course.
The East was tight and water came into play. We’re getting late into the season so divots are piling up. The greens are fast with some tricky breaks. The South was more open and a little less intimidating so the Driver came out more frequently than it did on the East.
The Brat was a nice size and the staff were all friendly.
I definitely want to play Arrowhead again.
Great Course!
Played the South Course and it was excellent. Course is well maintained good sand in the bunkers and place of play was good. Friendly staff and good clubhouse for after the round.
Need to water the course
Apparently, the course hasn’t been watered for weeks. The ground was so hard that I was afraid to injure my wrists. The layout is unmemorable. Way overpriced for what it is. Played the Preserve at Oak Meadows and Prairie Landing a few days ago, this is nowhere close to them.
Arrowhead South and East - Impeccable
Me and a great pal enjoyed a lovely round at Arrowhead yesterday. We got paired up with a very nice father and son and all of us had similar skills. Pace of play was great, fairways were like carpets and the greens were fast but true. Challenging and undulating but true. Can't wait until we can play again.
Better than expected
I know Wheaton is a great town and their golf course is no exception. Very well maintained course. Challenging and fun. Was a good experience overall. A little pricey for my taste but is worth it to experience at least once. I’d only come back if I needed to impress some out of town friends.
Horrible experience
Good course but it got a lot of problems.
1. It’s impossible to find balls unless u hit in the fairway
2. Lack of ranger, group in front plays extremely slow because they hit 4 ball per person, the group behind complains about how slow we play and how bad we are as golfer. If there’s a ranger it won’t happen
The round was cheap but it’s not worth it. Never going back to the course unless they hire a ranger.
Great nine
Course is always in great conditon. Both fun and challenging.
