Chevy Chase Country Club
About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Terrible
There was a temporary tee box on 1 due to a wedding setup....a temporary green on 8—with no notice or signage....when I finished my round at 6:30 on a Saturday night, the bar was completely shuttered and I could not get a beer or snack after my round ....pretty bad!
Great Value
Good course, friendly layout and very courteous staff.
don't play when wet
This place had some serious drainage issues which were supposedly corrected in the last few years. However, it appears this course still holds water more than many others our area. Don't play if its cart path only (even if you are walking).
Never again!
Someone told me this course was pretty good so I thought I'd try it out since I live 5 miles from the course. Big mistake, should of payed a little more money and played at sportsmans in Northbrook. The staff here is friendly and willing to make an effort but they really don't run a good operation and i never saw an employee the entire round. Got the hot deal and teed off around noon, no starter people going off at the wrong times etc. Very unorganized. It was also cart path only which I was shocked as is was not nearly wet enough to warrent this. If anything maybe a 90 degree rule would have been ok but the sun was out and had been for the past 2 days. The rough was full of sticks and other debris and was hard with tighht lies. Course is congrsted and almost got hit by a ball twice. Back nine was very slow, the carts gps broke twice during my round and took forever for somebody to help. Cart also stalled numerous times to tell me to get back on path which I was clearly on. This course is very disappointing. I will not return thats for sure.
Superb Course
I've always been a fan of Chevy Chase, and this round was no different. Pace was great, and the greens always roll very true at this course. Good value, friendly staff, and the course that's in great shape. What more can you ask for?
Chevy Chase
Great course, but I have a hard time recommending a course that took well over 5 hours to play. From hole 6 and on waited an average of 5-15 minutes per hole. Ended up not even finishing last 5 holes because pace of play so poor.
Friendly Staff
We were greeted at our car with our cart. That gave us the opportunity to load up and be on our way. Nice first impression.
Course in good shape.
Tree-lined but wide enough to play fairway.
Good day.
Fun Course, Forgiving
First time playing Chevy Chase. Nice course with good greens. Staff was incredibly nice and helpful. Not too much trouble on this course. For a right handed player the course favors the slice as most of the trouble will be left. We played in less than 4 hours on a Thursday at 12:30pm.
The course is a great value, always in good playing shape, competent, helpful and friendly staff, state of the arts new golf carts.
Aerated bouncy greens
It's early in the season and i thought the the course was pretty good for April. They should have let us know though that the greens were aerated and sanded just a few days before. Therefore the greens were bouncy and unpredictable for putting. Courses need to post this information on GolfNow so that players know the condition.
Beautiful course layout, great for a long walking 18
Course was in great shape especially for the rain we had been getting. Only complaint is the carts have GPS connected and will shut off if your in an area you are not supposed to be which would be great but the GPS is not always accurate, I was on cart path twice and the cart shut off and made me back up to the "correct area" it wanted me to be. But other than that wonderful course at a great price from GolfNow!!
Good course/Bad Updates
Nice little track. Great pace of play. Not sure how the greens play because, not one staff member mentioned that the greens were aerated earlier in the week. Other aerated courses had alerts on GolfNow, but this course did not. So before you book, I would call to make sure that he course is playable.
Great Value
What a great day to get out for only the 2nd time this season. The course was nice, the staff was great and the weather held up. My only disappointment was the fact that they didn't serve food after the round and with the masters tournament going on just seemed like a missed opportunity for the club to enhance the golf experience.
Great Shape in March
As always met in parking lot and given a cart. Pro shop staff friendly and informative. Course was being readied for spring play with raking, mowing and general clean up. Lots of new sand in bunkers. Fairways mowed and greens sanded. Fun but challenging course due to par 3's from the tips(190-210) the day I played.
This course has great features
Course conditions Very very good.fairway and green is
so nice, can't complains. thank , I will play again.

Agreed about the notification of aeration on Golf Now. I've seen some courses post it in the fall and usually the rates will be cheaper than normal. Sucks to pay full price for sub par conditions when it easily could've been avoided.
