About
Chevy Chase Country Club (formerly known as Traditions at Chevy Chase Country Club) in Wheeling is one of Chicagoland's top public golf facilities. Thomas Bendelow designed the golf course in 1925. The classic layout remained largely the same until 2002 when a major renovation updated the course and made it more challenging. The layout now has deep pot bunkers lined with tall native fescue that border the generous, rolling greens and undulating fairways. Though it is more challenging than it was, the golf course still offers a player-friendly round. Four sets of tees also ensure that golfers can play to their skill level. The course finishes with its signature hole, a par 5 that features water both left and right of the landing area off the tee. Three massive bunkers and yet another pond all fiercely guard the green as well.

Caters to heavy drinkers
My friend and I played with 2 male golfers (morning tee time). One golfer drank heavily and peed on a tree on the right side of a cart path in full view of the woman sitting in the cart next to him. There are no rangers and poor, rare bathroom facilities. Why do they allow liquor to be brought on the course? Why don't they have proper restroom facilities? Why don't they have rangers?
This guy was also swearing a blue streak, spitting his chaw, and smoking a cigar. Sadly, this is not the first time I have seen a male pee in full view on this course. Last time I will be going here! Too bad since the course is nice and the location is good.

Chevy Chase
I hadn’t played here in several years. The course conditions were very good. Some of the greens were pretty beat up. Very friendly staff.

Nice course
We always enjoy playing Chevy Chase. Course conditions are consistently good, and it’s an interesting course with varied holes.Pace of play was excellent-our foursome finished our round in just over four hours.

Early morning
Course was in great shape, fairways were a little soft and wet in places. Other than that great course.

Subtle Slopes & Quick Greens
I haven't played Chevy Chase since the redesign until now as I thought the price-point was too high, but now I feel a little better about the price tag. Subtle sloping fairways and slightly elevated greens add character to the relatively flat topography @ Chevy Chase. Their greens are speedier than I would expect and roll true. GPS on the carts is a plus. Only downside is there is no driving range or short-game area.
Quitno Golf Designs is responsible for redeveloping the course to eliminate chronic flooding issues, which I remember being a big issue. Other courses in their portfolio include Blackstone, Bridges of Poplar Creek, and Schaumburg.

Over watered fairways
No good drinking water on the course

Good course but rough needs to be cut shorter
I’ve played this course for years but haven’t played in a couple of years. They don’t cut the rough short enough. I know it was just cut because I asked. If your ball lands in the rough, you may not find it even if it’s just off of the fairway. Otherwise, the course is in great shape & if you stay in the fairways, you’re good!
