Enjoyed playing the course. It was in good shape and a decent value for the money. I would play it again.

Course was in excellent condition!! My friend and I really enjoyed playing here. Gotta play it more than one time to see where you want to land it at!! Recommend it to all. Bring extra balls. LOL

This course is tough for a high handicapper, and it was really challenging for a mid-handicapper as well. If you go right or left...forget about it. I will say that we played 3 or 4 hours after a torrential downpour, and the sand traps were like concrete. I used to do greenskeeping on a muni back in Cincinnati (during my youth), and we would have groomed the traps after the rain...it also helps them to dry.

Don't miss left or right on this course as the deep rough is unforgiving...basically, lost ball. Loved the variety of holes. Also...a 220 yard Par 3 from the Men's long tees (not Championship)...crazy!

Shepherds Crook is by far the best bang for your buck in Lake County. Consistency around the greens and good pace of play. I highly recommend playing the Crook if you’re in between course decisions.

Finished 18 in 3 hours and the greens were in excellent shape.

We started at 312pm and we left after 9 hole. It was a 3 hour 9 holes. No ranger.

I live in Chicago, but my friend and I feel that the 60-90 minute drive is well worth this hidden gem, which provides challenging holes at a very affordable price. We’ve moved around the course in approximately four hours each time we played with our morning tee time. Be sure to start the day with one of their freshly cooked breakfast sandwiches or the ribeye sandwich at the turn. . It would be great if the course had a driving range, but you could always drive about one mile north to Big Run to hit some balls. Wide open fairways allow even the slightly higher handicap golfer to score. Tall fescue off the fairways will come into play if you spray the ball, which can get lost. This is a great economical Lake County/Chicagoland area course. Can’t wait to go back.

Amazing track. Absolutely prestige conditions, greens were spectacular and the fairways and rough dried out well from the record rain we have had.

Would play for less that 40$ with a cart anyway

Wow, we loved this course a whole lot. It's not the hardest course, but it sure is challenging for a high handicapper like myself. Everything from the fairways to the greens were amazing. We'll definitely be going back soon!
