Nice course for the price.
I enjoyed playing this course. I felt like this course offered great views especially on the back 9. It's challenging enough for golfers with lower handicaps, and it's also friendly enough for golfers with higher handicaps. I really enjoyed the front 9 with the dogleg rights, and lefts. I found that the back 9 offers a challenge with blind 2nd shots, and elevation changes. I felt like the fairways were fast so addition yardage on tee off's added to the overall feel. The only issue that I had was the proximity of the holes to each other. On a few holes the tee box was a few feet away from the previous green which makes teeing off on a busy day a real adventure especially if the group behind you is firing shots at the green. The greens were solid, but at times could be slow. I also liked the pin locations on many of the holes which made for more challenging shots. Overall, this is a course that I added to my short list when decided on where to play. A good time for everyone.
60's era front design, 20's era back design
Really enjoyed my first time at this course on our Golfvisions players pass. Well maintained for this early in the season. Yes the course is "short" but the fairways were not cut yet as of the day of our play....so it played a tad longer. The front nine is fairly wide open with a couple of shorter length par 5's but the 6th and 9th holes are pretty tight short par 4's which prepares you for the tighter back nine. I love old school era courses and the back nine was really fun to play, hilly, picturesque and challenging with several small back to front sloping greens. The 14th hole is a really tight neat short par 4 requiring an well struck uphill approach shot to the left side of a very small green on top of the hill. Simply put a fantastic old school design. The par 5 15th hole starts from an elevated tee over a creek that requires a decent carry and then hills and dales for another uphill approach shot this time favoring the right side of the green...another old school gem. Highly recommend this place and will play again if in the Valpo area..... but when I travel to Valpo I do like Aberdeen a lot....however if you want to experience some mid-modern finishing with old school this place won't disappoint.....short sporty fun!
Forest park golf course
Greens were pretty speedy for all the rain in the past week. Rough was a little long in some spots but not bad. Good course for the value
Forest Park at a great rate
Thanks to GolfNow for a great providing a great price for a nice course on a Sunday, saving me more than $20 per golfer and enjoy a round of golf with my buddies.
Course offers variety of challenges
The front nine and back nine are
distinctively different on this course. Both are challenging but in different ways. It was an experience and adventure at times. Highly recommended.
hot deal!
The hot deal for this course is totally worth the money and then some. Definitely best deal in the area. Pretty well maintained course and very friendly staff.
Really liked it
The course was very wet from recent rain. If it hadn't been then I think it would have been a perfect course. The front and back 9s are like two different courses. The par 3s were somewhat long and tough. The course was challenging but playable. Fairways and greens were in great shape even though they were soaked. Had to walk the course since it was too wet to ride but it was still worth it. Great place to play.
Not to tough but not to easy
I love this place the course is maintained pretty well and the greens roll nicely. If you arent making good shots it will definitely frustrate you. There is a lot of elevation on the back 9 which will leave you short on many holes but overall this course is a great place to play.
Be prepared for 18 holes to take 6 hours.
I had a tee time reserved two days in advanced. We had to wait 30 mins on a cart. There were no rangers to be seen and the pace of play really slowed because of it. I will never waste money there again.
Course condition
It was a very nice course except for the cart paths. They were very very bumpy. I really would give it 5 star except the bumpy cart paths. I would play there again. But please fix the cart paths.
Best Municipal Course in Indiana
I absolutely love playing this course. It's maintained better than most private courses and has some amazing challenging holes that would test the best of pros.
Fun Back 9
The front and back 9's are like night day, the front being open and flat with big greens, and the back being tight and hilly with smaller, quicker greens.
It's a pretty short course and is usually in decent shape, other than the pitch marks on the greens that people never repair. Can hit a lot of drivers on the front, and should probably shoot at pins with the big, slow greens. The back is challenging and a lot of fun to play.
