Poor course conditions
The tee boxes were all weeds and fairways were hard and weedy. Needed water and fertilizers. Sand was 1/2 inch of raked sand but very hard.
Greens were in decent shape so no complaints there.
Not Worth It
Course condition was horrible. EVERY green torn up. Lots of sprinkler heads leaking which resulted in muddy area around greens. Lots of bare spots on tee boxes. No starter or marshall.
The people i was paired with stated the course gets worst every year.
To many slow groups
Two groups playing one hole while 3 others waiting
Best days are behind
Course is not in very good condition. Tee boxes are mostly weeds and bare patches. The greens are soft and covered in pitch marks. It's a challenging course but not in good enough condition to recommend.
A little rough today
Usually a beautiful course but was in rough condition today. Several of the tee boxes had more weeds and divots than grass. Both fairways and rough had way too many weeds. Every green needed ball marks repaired. It still a very nice course with a challenging layout.
Great experience as usual
Early morning tee time put us among other groups on the course. Pace was a bit slow initially, but evened out as the day went on. Kearney is always a quality experience, and today was no exception. Highly recommend.
Need to put money back into course
The fairways still have the makings of a country club feel; carpet. However, there is crabgrass growing wild and a lot of brown patches. The course is in serious need of investment to maintain what once was the best course in Lexington. The clubhouse and snack bar have not had a facelift in over 20 years. The carts are in great shape, but money needs to be put back into this course. At $50/round with cart, I believe they can afford to do so.
Not as good as it used to be
As a Lexington resident, I have been playing KH since it opened as the premier public links course in Kentucky. Now, not so much. The course design and layout is unchanged (except for the par 3 12th hole), and it is still a fantastic and challenging track. The condition of the course has definitely slipped over the past few years, and is now your typical muni with pitch marked greens and clover filled rough.
Good, not Great (This Time)
The course was in great condition except for the greens. There are A LOT of damaged spots. Not dried out from the heat and lack of rain, but full damaged. It’s unfortunate l, but the course is still a must play in the area.
Overbooked. They had multiple groups start with the same tee time
