Poor condition...including fairways
This course goes down more every year..bridges and fairways need major repair
Disappointing
We chose this course because of a great deal from Golfnow. We went to the course and checked in and everything was great and they sent us to the first tee. After we finished the third hole, we were deluged by a scramble tournament. They had a shotgun start and they put two groups on each tee. We played the first three holes in 20 minutes and the last six holes in two and a half hours. We walked off the course after nine holes. The condition of the fairways was terrible. You could have a hard pan lie right in the middle of the fairway. The greens were excellent. Overall, it was not a good experience, luckily, we didn't invest a lot of money into playing
Good for the money
The greens were in excellent condition, but fairways were in pretty awful condition with lots of dirt patches. This made a normally pretty easy course play quite a bit harder because drives hit dead center of some fairways would bounce off into the trees.
And watch out for major beginners on this course because of the price. I've often been stuck behind groups who take multiple mulligans on nearly every shot and do not let you play through...
A Good course
This is a great course especially for the price. The big fault with this course is that the fairways have not been taken care of very well. They are hard and barren. But the greens are the best in the Lexington, in my opinion. So soft and green, its like walking on a memory foam carpet. It's a fun and very pretty course.
SIngle Player
It is good for playing as single player.
Not so busy and very reasonable price!
Highpoint
Fairways are thin and patchy
Greens are quick and in nice shape
Tee blocks are good to nice
The fairways and general condition lets this nice course down.
Good value for under $20
Thought I was in Arizona.
Fairways are mostly dead. Ground is dry (we do need rain.) Other courses have overcome this however. Greens were ok, tee boxes were a mess. Some holes it was difficult to know which direction to find the fairway. Observed that food was left in sun uncovered, would not eat anything prepared there. I would play there again, but only on a good deal.
highpiont review
The greens were nice and that was all that was nice. Fairways and tee boxes were terrible. Carts were dirty. Clubhouse is dirty. Would not want food there. Course wasn't that busy, but would have taken over 5 hours if we had not skipped 4 holes just to get out of there.
good value
You can get behind slow people (we had to skip a hole on this particular day, but that was unusual), but for cheap, this course is really fun and scenic. Bermuda grass, so the fairways aren't green yet, but the greens are always pretty good. We play here pretty often.
Great course for the money
We got the HOT DEAL! Played for 8$. Its a nice course for the money. Nothing prestine or too hard but good for a fun afternoon.
Ok course for something different
The course is in fair condition. Mostly open with few hazards. Several stream crossings and one pond, but easy to manage. Several fairways slope sideways adding some challenge. The back nine is more scenic and interesting. Staff was super friendly. Worth the value with the Golf Now discount.
Pleasantly surprised.
Greens were in excellent condition, true fast. Fairways were in nice condition. Challenging 6100+ from white tees. Rolling hills.
Well-maintained, short, some challenges, great price!
Have played High Point a few times and am always impressed with how well it is maintained. It's a short course but provides some great challenges (a 170 ish par 3 entirely over water, for example) and I only use driver on 1 or 2 holes - great course for work on your iron play! Also, unbelievable value - played at 2:54 on a thurs. for $9 plus usual fees, was finished by 6pm. Highly recommend for any level!
good time for the money
the course needs a little work but overall not too bad
Varying terrain and changing elevations make for a nice round of golf.
I've played this course several times before and always enjoy it. It's a great value course and presents it's challenges with different types of holes, but isn't so tough that you can't score well. Fairways and rough were in pretty decent shape and the greens were in great shape. The only thing I'd like to see added is more yard markers; a few of the holes it was kind of hard to determine. Overall though, a very nice round of golf at a great price. Best value in the Lexington area in my opinion.
Kudos to greenskeeper!!
A rather hilly course with personality. All par 3s are unforgiving. Beautiful scenic vistas of the countryside. On the down side, sandtraps are few and unmaintained. Greens are small and maintained very well.
value course.
Was in town with friends and pick a last second tee time due to possible rain. No one was at the club house (i.e barn). just a note that person would be back soon. So we grabbed carts and headed out on the course. Pretty easy course as there are few bunkers, but a lot of elevation changes which for a Florida guy is a welcomed change. fairway conditions were pretty rough (a lot of weeds) but greens were in good condition which if I had to trade bad greens vs. fairways I would rather have bad fairways and true rolling greens. We paid around $23 for weekend tee time which I would say puts the value at this as average, but if cheeper I would definately put this course as a great value. All in all for social outing pretty good course to just hang out with friends.
Beautiful part of the county, but needs attention.
Highpoint was in a beautiful part of the county and very secluded. The staff was very friendly, able to spark up a conversation about anything, and very knowledgeable. The course on the other hand was not as impressive; now I'm not an expert on the management of a golf course, but I know how one should look. Here are some faults we noticed with the course:
-Most fairways had an infestation of clovers and weeds
-The bridges seemed to be very out of date and in need of repair
-The cart path in some places was very roughly patched up if even at all
-Most of the greens had what seemed to resemble burn marks all over them.
- In particular, hole #4, the steps leading to the tee box couldn't be used because it was blocked by over grown bushes.
Great Value
Best deal ever. Was a single and asked if anyone came needing a player to send my way. 5 minutes later a very nice gentleman came along. Had great time. Also liked the gold tees for an older guy like me.
