Fun Course
For a first time play, it was most pleasant. I'll be back. Some really pretty holes. Nice mix of residential and nature views. Greens were slick and challenging - very few ballmarks. Greens still made some of the shorter holes a test. Nice to play a few par 4's that required strategy off the tee - not just step up with your driver and bang away. Fairways well kept. At 75, played mid tees. Rough around the greens was long and exacted a price. Each hole marker displayed an etched photo of a horse with narrative. Really nice touch. Pretty, quiet out of the way location just 8 minutes outside Nicholasville.
Thoroughbred
Nice course in excellent condition lots of elevation changes. Pure greens, short course from the whites. I highly recommend.
Local Favorite Course
We played early so the dew was thick. The course was in great shape but the t boxes had high grass. I think they were mowing as we were playing so no big deal just had to use tall tees.
Greens were wonderful and we didn’t have any issues with any other players or the cart. What more can you ask for?
Course Description
I loved playing this course. The course is clean, has great greens, and they have great hospitality in the clubhouse. GREAT course!!
The guy working the desk
Course was in great condition. The course has come along way over the years. The barn inside looks great and a good place to have food and drinks afterwards. To the gentleman working the counter this morning 8-29-21. There is ALOT to be desired form him, I don’t know if it was the full attitude of I’m a d-bag coming from him or if it was the I’m soo busy driving carts to the front and then walking to the counter to take your money. Well shoot for all I know he might have had a fight with the old lady and brought that nasty attitude in with him. Never less we still had a great time. Will be back to play soon.
Events
Don’t let people book a tee time if you’re not going to let them play the round they payed for. We booked an 11:30 tee time and they made us stop at 6 to move on to 10. They had an event that wasn’t disclosed until we checked in. Afterwards, we weren’t allowed the allotted time to finish the round that any normal game would’ve taken. And because of the event we were rushed on the back 9.
Great day for golf
Course is in really good shape considering the heat. It was 95° in the shade so I basically had the course to myself. I played 18 hols in 2 hours and 2o minutes. There are a couple of greens that appear to have been damaged otherwise course is in great condition. Great value for one of my favorite courses in the Lexington area. Highly recommend. The restaurant is open and food is really good as well.
Great staff and cook/bartender
Nick was ab awesome cook/bartender. Gave us extra wings and was able to get my buddy a lettuce wrap Turkey Club. Very accommodating. Highly reccomend the course and food
Great Shape
The course was well taken care of and for $40 it competes with some of nicer courses around. Will definitely come back to play again.
Good course
Good course. New owner seems to be picking it up A LOT. It is much nicer than just last summer and can totally tell a difference. One of my favorite spots in Lexington
Beautiful drive to get there - beautiful drives on the course
Being a flatlander from Kansas, my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our round today. The drive past the horse farms to get to the course through the rolling hills whetted our appetite for what to expect once on the course. We loved it. Beautiful surroundings, well-kept homes throughout the routing of the course, uneven lies on the hilly terrain with numerous elevation changes...all in all, I had a blast. There were a few fairways needing some grass but the vast majority of the fairways allowed us to play 'it as it lies'. The greens were all smooth, putted true, and a good pace. Had an ultra-slow twosome waived the groups they were holding us up to pass, the pace of play would have received a 5* rating in that category. We'll be back on our next visit to the area!
Nice couse
Course is very nice. Definitely a shorter course even with the back tees.
Getting better
The course is under new ownership and new management and has improved pretty significantly versus previous seasons. It’s still a fairly short course with a few oddities (no bunkers, tee boxes that are actually back to back with one another, etc), but it’s a fun place to play and provides a good challenge with lots of elevation changes and some tricky water hazard and tree locations.
