Swan Point Yacht & Country Club
About
Situated along the shores of the Potomac River in southern Maryland, Swan Point Country Club has been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in the state. Golfers who enjoy playing in the Carolinas will feel right at home on this course. Water or marshland comes into play on 12 holes and there is an abundance of pine trees. The course is also home to a variety of wildlife including osprey, bald eagles, and deer. In addition to the water, strategically placed bunkers add another challenging element to the golf course. The par-5 fourth hole is considered the signature, mostly due to the challenging island green. Proper club selection is key in order to maneuver past the lake that runs along the entire left side of the fairway. The hole is especially hard on windy days.

Swan Point Golf.
As always Swan Point was in ecxcellent shape. Very friendly staff. This was an afternoon of golf spent very well.
Be Prepared for Lots of Water and Sand
Tough course to play if no one in your group has played it before. For a lefty with a slice (when I can't slow my swing down) there were several tee shots that found the water on the opening 9 with water to the left on several holes. The Sand Traps around several of the greens were PGA/USGA like - deep bunkers - if you don't have a Sand game you'll have a tough time getting out of a couple of them. Very Challenging and very pleasing course to the eye - layout is wonderful - staff was great - original cart had no get up and go so they ran us out a new cart at the first green and we were off and running - I think you need at least one person that has seen the course in your foursome so you have a better idea of where you need to place your shots - a lot of doglegs - will play again and the rate via Golf Now is great.
excellent fairways and greens
Fairways are in great shape, all players in group commented favorably on course condition. Greens rolled true and speed was good. The course is in excellent condition and you cannot find a better deal in southern Maryland. Super friendly, knowledgeable staff.
Great holes
The course was in excellent shape. Many of the holes, which involved some water, required strategic golf shots either to the fairway or raised greens.
Nice layout but very flat
This course has its high and low points. Most of the fairways and greens are in great condition but there are so parts that need help! Greens were very slow and flat when I was playing in late april. I would like to get back again because it is on a great piece of land.
Great value for the money
If you play conservative early you can score. If you get too aggressive too soon you will be in for a long day. Fairway and Greens were in great shap. If you can't pinch a wedge here you need to take up tennis.
Great course, great views
This is a hidden gem in the area...Good conditions and friendly staff. Every hole is a signiture hole (except the 6th, way too funky green) otherwise course is great...NIce layout great routing....
great course
great course layout very fast greens and some hard pin placement but descent rates for this course liked everything about the experience
Great course
Bermuda fairways are almost all the way green. 2 more weeks and they will be very nice. Greens are much better this year then the past couple of years. I hope they keep up the good work.
You must play this course
Great conditions, staff friendly and the fairways are in excellent conditions. I would recommend this course to a friend. The view is breath taking.
This is a great layout.
I haven't played this course in 8 years. When I played this course years ago it was the best manicured course I had ever played - the fairways were like carpet and the rough was like foam rubber. Course has deteriorated but still a great layout and great value.
Terrible Fairways and Greens
The course was in need of some serious attention. Every tee shot plugged, greens bumpy and slow.
I have played here before and it was completely different in a good way.
Kinda scratching my head right now...
GREAT COURSE
BEAUTIFUL COURSE, VERY CHALLENGING COURSE FOR A NOVICE, VERY SOGGY IN COLD CONDITIONS, I CAN'T WAIT TO PLAY IT IN SUMMER WHEN THE TRUE BEAUTY OF THE COURSE WILL SHOW
Tender fairways, hard aerated greens cart path only.
Swan Point is most always a pleasureable course to play. A lot of rain and cool weather have kept the course dormant and damp. Time and warm weather will rectify this.
In great shape for February
We were surprised the course was even open it was so cold when we started our round. But it was well worth the chill factor. Great views and a variety of hole layouts made this a fun course. We will most certainly play here again.
A great course for a Winter round of golf
When I booked I heard the weather would be in the high 40's, but when I arrived it was still hovering around 36 degrees. since there were few folks willing to play in that temperature, the pace of play was great, finishing 18 in under 4 hours. The course was wet, mostly on the fairway edges and in the rough, but the lies were good and the shots were true off the turf. The greens were in excellent condition and putted straight, no bumps or other issues. The price for a Sunday round was excellent as was the hospitality in the Pro Shop and Clubhouse. I shot a 90, which is within my handicap, and should have shot better (lost six balls to cold hands!). The last few holes bring a lot of water and sand into play around the greens, so if you get tired mid-round and your shots tend to stray, bring something to pick up your game. I can't wait to play in better weather.
Good course even without the deal
Have played here quite often in the past when i worked not to far away. Had the course all to myself pretty much and loved it. Great track on a somewhat mild day on the last day of the year. Couple of spots on greens but it is winter, and not in an area to affect direct play. I'd play here every day if i could get the deal. Even in season it's reasonable and a nice track.
Nice layout.
On the Potomac and Cuckolds creek. A challenginging course from the Blue tees. The white are a bit short, i.e. less than 6000 yards. Have to be a good ball striker or you can get into a bunch of trouble. Very scenic.
