Swan Point Yacht & Country Club
About
Situated along the shores of the Potomac River in southern Maryland, Swan Point Country Club has been ranked as one of the top 10 golf courses in the state. Golfers who enjoy playing in the Carolinas will feel right at home on this course. Water or marshland comes into play on 12 holes and there is an abundance of pine trees. The course is also home to a variety of wildlife including osprey, bald eagles, and deer. In addition to the water, strategically placed bunkers add another challenging element to the golf course. The par-5 fourth hole is considered the signature, mostly due to the challenging island green. Proper club selection is key in order to maneuver past the lake that runs along the entire left side of the fairway. The hole is especially hard on windy days.

Hardest sand I’ve ever hit out of
We went up there and they had everything as cart path only (would’ve just went to driving range had we known). The sand traps I don’t think have been fluffed in at least a month so they were extremely hard, I know if I just played better the sand traps wouldn’t concern me but none the less it was a good time .
Always enjoy
Off the beaten path gem. This time of year a lot of dormant grass but very playable still and a good course for walking.
Beautiful course. Tuff course . Greens where very nice and fast.
One of best courses in MD and Virginia
Not sure when Jyaz played but pace of play was not that bad. If anything terrible 4somes were holding up play. That aside, the course features a picturesque and unique layout that truly has the feel of a Carolina course. Holes 9-14 are a fanatic stretch of holes that really exemplify the Carolina vibe. Course was in great shape. Greens rolled true - maybe a few unfixed ball marks but nothing irregular for a public course . Overall, great value and fun course. I’ve played literally every course within a few hours of DC (both Va and Maryland) and some top flight private courses across the country and would easily put Swan Point as a must play course for someone in the region who has a chance to swing it. Another plus is that the grill and turn-house are open again after COVID. Highly recommend.
Seem to enjoy this course and conditions every time we play here!
Swan Point Review
The course was great. However, I am not happy with the GolfNow app. Beware of the small print for Hot Deals in that in you can NOT cancel tee times. I made the tee time for 4 and 2 had to cancel. I tried to cancel them 1 day in advance an the app would not allow it. Tried to call the GolfNow phone number and was unable to connect to a human being to discuss (all automated). BEWARE OF SMALL PRINT ON GOLFNOW HOT DEALS REGARDING CANCELLATIONS!!!
Fun Day
Stopped here on our way to Richmond Va from the Northeast. Fun round, beautiful course. Better than expected. A bonus, we avoided the Baltimore/DC traffic on I95! We'll be back if it fits our plans.
Nice course!
Fairways in great conditions along with most greens. Some very challenging holes along with nice scenery make this a go-to golf destination.
Great layout, great value, condition not as good as before
We have played this course two years ago and enjoyed the layout and condition very much, so we decided to come here again to play from 2 hours away. The layout and value are still as great as before, greens are fast with undulation but still fair, bunker white sand is still soft powdery and playable, the Bermuda grass on fairways and rough are still welcome changes from what we are used to play, and pace of play is good mid Sunday. However, the conditions on some parts of the rough is getting much worse than we remembered from two years ago, and there are some hardened bold unplayable patches on the fairways. Hope these condition issues can be remedied before our next visit.
Greens rolling pure!
I shot 41/41. 3 birdies! 3 putts on 8 and 17 ruined my chance at breaking 80. After the group in front of me for the front nine let me play through, pace of play was brisk!
