Always a good time at Clustered Spires
Clustered Spires is a fun course. Its not overly challenging, but due to the pin placements, its challenging enough.
There aren't many blind shots or doglegs, but pin placements are usually behind bunkers with very little green to work with for your approach. Its a fun course and it does not purposefully try to be harder than it is.
The staff is great, very cool.
Always worth it!!!!
Played this course many times and every time the course is in great shape. The greens rolled nice, always in fantastic shape. Enjoy this gem of a course!!
Great Course
Great Course in great shape for a great cost.
Great course
They are serious about pace of play so keep up. Conditions are excellent despite the quantity of play. Scott and Andrew are fabulous pros. Everyone is friendly. Love this course. The memberships are a GREAT value if you live in the Frederick area and play a good amount of golf.
First time and will be back!
Loved this course. Good, fair challenge from the tips...with some tough holes and some scoring "opportunities". Course was in great shape. I wouldn't put it in the same category as Whiskey Creek or Worthington Manor...but it's not far behind.
Great Neighborhood Gem
This course is well kept and challenging. Just need to watch out for all the geese! Enjoyed playing with my husband and son.
Very slow play!!
The course i liked! My first time playing it, and it's got a good layout. Pace of play was HORRIBLE though. Not to mention it took 20mins to get 2 sodas at the turn. Talk about bieng understaffed,, wow!!!
Great pace; great round
Was visiting my brother in the area and tried this course on the recommendation of a friend of his. Really enjoyed the course. It was well cared for. The pace was great and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had to rent clubs as well and they were able to mix up a bag to meet our needs ( I prefer irons to hybrids). All in all a great day. Despite it being 95 degrees there was a nice breeze so never felt really hot. Give it a try!
Hidden Gem!
I've played Clustered Spires several times and it is always in great condition. Greens are consistent and rest of course is in good shape.
Great experience
This was first time playing this course. Right from the start from the club house to the course one could tell the people who work this course take there work serious. First expressions were very pleasing from the tee boxes to greens. The layout of the holes and overall of the course was tremendous. Challenging but pleasing to the eye. For the cost of 18 holes plus cart for this course was very acceptable. I will definetly play this beautiful course again and will pass this great experience on to my golfing buddies.
Shotmaker's Course
Spires will test your skills and mental game. It looks benign but the rough is always challenging. The green have subtle undulations and trap doors surround every green. It has fair slopes and undulations all throughout - even fairways but not so severe it becomes more a game of luck.
Always in great condition - and a fair test of your overall game.
This is a muni so don't expect a TPC type bar/clubhouse.
Played with a guy who lives in PA, an hour away. He's already booked his next round.
course review
I selected this course because it was rated 4 stars. Having played other 4 star courses such as raspberry fall, stonewall, etc ; i can unequivecally say this is not one. The course layout was good, somewhat pleasing with a few water-views which didn't come into play. Numerous dandelions made it difficult to find balls which are just of the fairway. I would rate this course 3.5 at best.
Nice course for family and practice.
The course is well maintained.
Great course for the money.
Course was in great condition. Bunkers needed to be raked due to the excessive rain.
Great track
I really enjoyed this golf course. Played on a damp wet day and there was very little traffic on the course. Good test from the black tees. The rough was up because on the rain so you better hit it straight and long. Greens were in fantastic shape and very consistent. I would play here again for sure !!!
A lot for the money!
Nice course with rolling hills and wide fairways. Kept in better than average condition. Greens and fairways are well mowed.
Not extremely difficult of a course but very enjoyable to play.
Great Course!
We found this course on GolfNow - we loved playing here! the layout is incredible, condition was great (except for he aerated greens, but that's every course this time of year...). We will definitely return!
Great Course!
I played this course on a weekday and got a great rate on Golf Now. I was surprised at how nice the course was. The layout was playable, with challenging holes and the greens were rolling nicely. The course overall was in excellent condition. I plan to return and play it again soon. I highly recommend this course.
Benign. Vanilla. But not bad-looking
a split-score...B- without the planes, C with them, and I think that's slightly generous.
...a lot of planes on the back side of the course in the mid afternoon.
Otherwise a fairly benign course. No carries. Wide gentle fairways on most of the holes, mostly straight holes altogether, not much waste or sand. A really just kind of "vanilla" course. Just almost too easy on the front nine but tightening-up nicely on the back. Still never really gets "hard". The greens were on the borderline of sucking because the grass was too long and shaggy.
I really have a hard time believing that this is a 130 slope course. Even slightly off my game I was still flirting with 90 from the back tees and ended with a 93. Easily my lowest score this year. Blue Ridge Shadows is a 134 course, this course is nowhere near as hard as Blue Ridge Shadows.
It is an ok round ignoring the planes, and I liked the last 5 holes or so but otherwise it was a fairly boring, easy course. But in decent shape, with a gentle layout, and as such really a beginner to intermediate course. Sorry, Maryland National is about a half-hour up I-70 and is just much better, same with Whiskey Creek maybe 10 miles to the southeast. Both priced about the same. I could not recommend those courses to beginners, certainly I would recommend Clustered Spires instead.
And then there are the planes.
