Great winter shape
The course is playing as good as it can for winter conditions. Greens rolling true with pretty decent roll out. Pace of play was nice as there aren’t as many who brave the cold.
Fun
Great set up, plan to play with a plan or be deceived by layout.

Great Shape! Fun time.
Still in great shape in November! Caught a nice day and headed out for 18. Greens are firmer, but roll true and fast. Challenging layout. Great staff. Had a wonderful time.

Teetimes were very delayed from frost. Not much can be done about that though. I definitely feel like the grounds crew should have at least reduced the ridiculous number of leaves on the fairways and in bunkers. Still had a great time and will definitely play here again.

Jonathan Loden Annual Golf Outing
The links at Challedon hosted our annual Jonathan B. Loden Golf Outing this year. This was the 16th year for this event and everything was perfect — great weather, 120 players, banquet food excellent and Challedon staff very helpful. Most important, the golf course in such nice condition. Prior to moving to NC, Challedon was my home course. Other than a few minor tee box problem, the fairways and greens are excellent — best I’ve seen in the 10 years playing this course.
So thankful for the Challedon team for making this event such a success. We’ll be back next year — we’ll be meeting with John soon to reserve the JBL date for 2024.
