Links at Challedon

The only thing that was not up to par was the rain lol.

I was told to go off the back because 3 Asian female players didn’t want company in my original tee time slot. Really?

So I essentially had to book twice for the same round, even though I purchased and paid for a time. Frustrating not knowing if I would be able to slip into a front nine tee time after the back and having to introduce myself to two different groups in the same day.

Really?

My friend and I showed up for our T time, 20 min in advance, just to be informed that our T time was canceled a week ago due to an event ,and our fee was refunded. The man at the proshop said if we wanted to play ,we had to wait for another hour, 3pm, to start our round, and it is $30/ person. After checking , we found NO email sent,and NO $ was refunded. We paid $78 fir 2 players. After being informed that what they said was not the truth, they want to comp us with a basket of balls to keep us entertained until 3pm. And did not say anything about the difference between $78 that we paid,and $60 ,which is the regular fee for the 3pm T time.

We decided to play at 3pm since we took the afternoon off from work. They said we would have NO body after hole #1. Well, that is not true. The EVENT players, turned around, played more holes in front of us in groups of 8 for 2 holes before I called the proshop to complain.

We never had such bad experience golfing ever, especially such poor conduct from golfers and golf club management team. Should this go unnoticed? The course is absolutely very nice, just the people. It is SHAMEFUL!!

I was looking forward to playing a round at this course but the drive was a hurdle. Very glad I played it. Course was in excellent shape and the staff very friendly and accommodating. Looking forward to playing there again soon.

I have played here multiple times a year for the past few years. It is usually in good shape and you can get a decent hot deal price. However, when I played yesterday the course was in rough shape considering the time of year. Super thin throughout the course, more than half the tee boxes were beat up pretty badly, greens were just ok but a lot of ball marks not repaired. Overall, not a bad play but I expected a lot better conditions in early Spring. Many area courses are in much better shape.

A wonderful day on the links. Course was in great shape, greens were extremely fast and well manicured. Played the tips, which would not recommend unless you're consistent off the tee. Lots of OB to get into.

I have not played Links of Challendon in over 15 years. They have had multiple owner changes. The new management team is doing a great job. I would rate everything 4.5. It will be a 5 when tee boxes are reseeded. A few fairways could use extra seed as well.

Excellent friendly staff with great food. I will definitely be back. My Dad & I had a great time. I shot 83 but I should have been in the 70's. I had some relapses in execution. I will be back. Keep up the great work. When I come back hopefully, I can rate you a 5.

Challedon was pretty great in terms of course conditions, staff, food etc. However if I am paying 80 then I expect a little bit more, given that it is a bit of a drive for I am guessing most who patronize the place.

Pros: Course conditions were pretty great, well maintained fairways and greens as well as tee boxes. The staff was friendly, helpful etc. The layout is pretty good too, its somewhat challenging with the par 5-4-5 start. Water into play on a few holes and its an enjoyable course without making it ridiculous. Food and drinks, pro shop, bathrooms, general Covid rules are on par with clear signs etc.

Cons: First up there was a bit of frost delay but there was no starter to tell us when to get to the new tee times. Luckily everyone was courteous and figured it out amongst ourselves. Also I hope the kids manning the carts wear their masks and pool noodles in the holes so that people don't have to reach down in the cups. These are easy one hour fixes for you guys.

For the more longer term fixes I hope the bunkers get a few inches more of sand over the course of the summer. I also hope they invest in cart mounted GPS units.

At courses that have similar fees (PB Dye, Blue Mash, Worthington Manor etc) they do have the gps carts. If I am paying $80 I would expect that, maybe a club washing station, ball cleaners etc. The details were missing. I am fine paying $80 for the course, its in super condition and its fun BUT add those details for the paying customer and you got a true winner.

Am I going to come play again, absolutely. Oh the food and drinks were great!

I eat at The Grille at Challedon often. It’s always delicious, tasty food at affordable prices. Chef Jon and his team are creative and always preparing specials for eating inside, on the patio or Carryout

Booked a 740am Sunday tee time. Was placed with two other guys and we finished in under 4hours. Course was in very good shape. Will play again.
