Links at Challedon

Management has done some really good work on this course since my last visit in April. The fairways, for the most part, are green with plenty of grass. I did notice #15 and #17 still had some sections with dirt splotches. And, there are a couple of holes that have holes (like tractor marks or small sink holes), but other than that it is a 100% improvement. The bunkers were exceptional. The rough was thick and had not been cut, so it was a challenge today. My only complaint would be the tee boxes. Still hardly any grass and what is there is mostly crabgrass. However, I'll take it--they have made a lot of improvement since the Spring. The staff is always very nice and accommodating, and they do have a great grill (although I didn't stay). Pace was exceptional...a little over 3 hours. And, all for $30 with the Tee Time Book!

Played Challedon yesterday, and had great experience. Fairways were firm and fast, yes a little patchy on the front, but it is August. Greens on the front still showed some signs of aerification, much smoother on the back. Some of the best bunkers I have ever had to hit out of. And let me tell you the cheeseburger and fries at the turn, Wow!! Juicy and delicious, will be going back soon.

Played on a Monday afternoon at 4pm with a group of 3(including myself.) Knew we were in for a long butt numbing round when we waited for 10 minutes to tee off on the first hole. There was a group of 4, another group of 4, a group of two, us (group of 3) and the another group of 3 behind us that must have all been told to tee off within 10 minutes of each other. We were constantly passed by other players trying to get around the massive pile up of players on the course, which in turn just made the problem worse. The starter has one job, to make sure that doesn't happen. I wouldn't let that starter start my car with a remote start, he'd probably screw that up too. After two and a half + hours to get through 9 holes we gave up. Spent more time roasting in the sun waiting to play than actually playing.

The drive to L@C is worth the 40 minutes because the conditions are very nice -good fairways and excellent (if perhaps a little slow) greens; the staff is generally friendly; and the food is superb. The 2 areas of improvements, in my opinion,, are tee boxes and bunkers. I hit a metal stake in the right green side bunker on #1 that resulted in a double. It seems the course has lost several tee boxes, but since I use a tee, that’s the least important part of a golf course. I will continue to come back! Last nugget would be a clearer military/veterans policy. I seem to get a different answer on each visit. Here’s some of the quotes from staff: “we have discounts for that Mon thru Thu.” “Sometimes we offer the Preakness discount.” “Yes, we’re glad you’re here.” Please understand I am in no way demanding a discount, just a clearer policy so that all staff are on the same page.

Went in mid July. Course was well kept. Great practice/warmup facilities. Staff was friendly. Only qualm would be a large number of two somes out for a Saturday morning.

Excellent course conditions and outstanding pace of play .

My friend and I started out with two strangers, singles. We were a foursome .After 7 holes 1 player DROPPED OUT AS THERE WAS A FIVESOME VERY SLOW FIVESOME IN FRONT OF US. MYFRIEND AND I WERE READY TO QUIT AFTER NINE HOLES BUT THEN THAT FIVESOME QUIT AND LEFT THE COURSE. WE FIGURE THE PACE OF PLAY WOULD PICK UP SO WEADVANCED TO THE TENTH HOLE. IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TENTH FAIRWAY WE DISCOVERED WE WERE BEHIND ANOTHER FIVESOME. WE LEFT the course. Starters need more training.

Played 18 holes with my son and his wife. Couldn’t have been better. Nice course and a wonderful little restaurant with friendly service and spot-on pub food. I’ll be back soon!!

We had a great time playing this course and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes a challenging course that is great condition

We had a great round from the start to finish. Started on time and was able to finish the round in reasonable time of 4 1/2 hours.

The condition of the course was excellent overall.

As the first time playing this course, I found it to be challenging. Great layout, with a lot of blind tee shots. I was playing with someone who plays regularly, which was a big help. I would definitely play again.

Played this with my uncle and cousin who are both fairly new to golf, we didn’t slow pace down, and course was immaculate. Greens were lightning fast and rolled true. Loved the course!

Great value. Greens were a little bumpy but to be expected this early in the season. But overall highly recommended.

Like other reviewers, I play this course several times a year. I like the layout and there are a variety of risk/reward holes. Typically, with the new ownership, this course has been in great shape; however, I was somewhat disappointed for my first round of the 2019 season. The fairways were splotchy at best with grass...there must have been at least three maybe more different kinds of grasses which caused inconsistency and unevenness. Additionally, there were dirt spots (big and small) throughout the fairways. The rough was also a mixture of thick grass tufts with dirt. The greens had been aerated, but seemed to be recovering. And finally, even the tee boxes need some TLC. The staff was very nice and, for the price, it was an okay round. I'm hoping the conditions improve as we move further into the golf season.

Been playing Challedon for at least 15 years. Course was in the worst shape i have ever seen. I know it is early in the season but the course conditions were pathetic. Greens under aeration, fairways very blotchy and looked sick. Tee boxes beat to death. I will not. E back for quite some time. Hopefully they will get this nice course in playable conditions
