Agawam Municipal Golf Course
About
Agawam Municipal Golf Course has been a favorite among local golfers since first opening in 1944. It has a traditional layout that offers a few challenges but it's still player friendly enough for golfers of any skill levels. The holes are fairly straightforward but the gently rolling hills provide some subtly tricky elevation changes. There isn't any water on the golf course but there are mature trees lining the fairways. While it may not be what you're looking for if you're an avid golfer who wants a truly formidable test, Agawam Municipal Golf Course is not to be under-estimated. The greens can be tricky to pitch to and accuracy will take you far. This municipal course is a great spot for a quick and casual round that's also affordable.

Nine, par-3, 140. Playing steeply uphill, this is possibly the best-known, most interesting, and least liked hole at Agawam. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/05/2022

There are some rigorous holes on Agawam’s back side. This par-4 at ten is one of them. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 09/05/2022

From this high tee at 12, the tight landing zone looks all the more intimidating. The number of golfers who play from this blue tee is underwhelming. Photo submitted by AptlyLinked on 11/22/2021

Worth $28
Decent course in good shape. Exceptionally fast greens with the grain, Average length from white tees tough rough but overall a fair test
The course has some is easy and challenging holes. Must hit fairways to have a good shot to the greens. Greens were fast and in good shape. I would definitely return and recommend to play.
Good Value
Great shape for a municipal course. Not a lot of mystery in the front but the back has some challenge.
Rough was everywhere and very easy to loose your ball in it. Greens were very slow but true. Everything else was great.
course well cared for
I've played this course over the past 20 years and it has never been in as good a shape as it is now. Fairways are lush and cropped perfectly, greens are in tip top shape and fun to play. Rough is as it should be, not so deep you can't find your ball, but tough to play out of well. I enjoyed having the GPS device on the cart.
Nice outing
Played the back 9 with 3 friends, showed up at 6:30AM without a tee time and they got us right out :) carts were beautiful, course was nice, yardage stakes at every 150 yards and badge markers in the fairways every 50 yards. Granite hole diagrams at every tee box, very nice.
Played the back nine
Play every week. Yesterday the back nine. Course is in great shape. Grounds crew doing a great job. Like the rough being a bit higher. Front is more open, back has more trees. Being older like the distance from the golds. Tony is doing a great job.
Great Course for the $$$
Read a bunch of reviews about the great course conditions so had to check it out. All the reviews were correct - the course was in great shape. Front 9 was wide open and back 9 was more tree lined and difficult. Yardage was a little short at less than 6000. This track is worth the money and i will definitely be going back.
My experience
Awesome course for the money paid, the course is well kept and has some very challenging par 5's. The views are breathtaking and there's always a breeze.

Jeebo
Played 2 days after heavy rain. Course was close to unplayable. Two 4somes in front of us, one was seniors moving and playing so slow, the other 4some included 2 beginners and a dozen beers in the cart. 3 hours to play the front. Both groups stopped after 9, took 1.45 hrs.
Long and Straight
The course is well kept and manicured. The layout leaves something to be desired. Many of the holes are straight and narrow. The course is not overly long, and 90% of the holes are dead straight, no drastic dog legs. Its a good course for beginners however because of the course layout. Many times there were golfers hitting across fairways in the opposite direction, which in my opinion, led to the slow play.
Great Course
Course is well maintained, pace of play was great.
