Agawam Municipal Golf Course
About
Agawam Municipal Golf Course has been a favorite among local golfers since first opening in 1944. It has a traditional layout that offers a few challenges but it's still player friendly enough for golfers of any skill levels. The holes are fairly straightforward but the gently rolling hills provide some subtly tricky elevation changes. There isn't any water on the golf course but there are mature trees lining the fairways. While it may not be what you're looking for if you're an avid golfer who wants a truly formidable test, Agawam Municipal Golf Course is not to be under-estimated. The greens can be tricky to pitch to and accuracy will take you far. This municipal course is a great spot for a quick and casual round that's also affordable.

Great value!
Course in great shape except for some green issues, especially on No. 12. Always happy to play my home course - and got a hot deal for $12, including cart!!!
Great time. Course in beautiful shape and a nice variety of holes. Great ladies tees.
First round of 2017 at Agawam
I play at Agawam fairly often despite having plenty of similarly priced options in the area. The course is kept very well, the greens especially. The only negative I can think of is a handful of wet spots that can be a minor issue. But even in the spring after a good rain they aren't that bad. The yardage is well marked at the tee boxes and at 150 yards, but I wouldn't mind better 100 and 200 yard markers. Again, just nitpicking here.
The staff is always very friendly and helpful. I'd like to see the beverage cart out more consistenty. However, that seems to be a problem at all the area courses.
The course itself is fun and challenging. Many of the greens on the front are shaped so if you're not careful it'll roll right off the side or back. There is a lot elevation change so judging yardage can be tricky, especially on the par 3 ninth going up a steep hill to the clubhouse.
All said, I really like the course, and with the deals that can be found on GolfNow it's somewhere I can play often without going broke. There is room for improvement but not much to actually complain about. I'm even considering a membership.
great hometown course
we played this course as kids when it was feeding hills golf, the town and particularly tony have done a good job in the rebuilding of this course. we enjoy playing here.
Course review
Started playing agawam municipal golf course this year. Course was in fantastic condition. Length was fair for the average golfer. Greens took a while to get used to. All staff members were courteous and helpful. Tony always bent over backwards to help you get on the course so you could get your round in. Would definitely recommend this course
excellent place
I have played Agawam many many times and never tire of it. Tony Roberto runs a great facility...course is great...staff is fun and professional...he wears "many hats" and all of them well. Everyone I bring there love it and eagerly return...give it a try!
Great shape
Great shape for a muni course and considering all the play it gets. Generally a quick pace and you can get 18 in 3 1/2 hours or less. The only issue we ever has that sometimes the golf etiquette is lacking. Some players follow their ball in the cart no matter where it lands and given the wide open nature of the front 9 more respect should be given to the players actually playing the hole the errant shot landed in.
Classic agawam
The course has the worst drainage system I've ever seen. I played it a lot when I was kid 10 years ago. I went with a friend bc he is a beginner and the course is short and wide open. It rained a little 6am and was still soaked when we played at 330pm. Wet fairways, moist greens... I decimated the course with a 75 just so everyone knows. If you're a dink and need a beginner course, go here because you'll be hooked up with some high schoolers or dudes wearing jeans. Mmmmpow
Golf review
This course is in good shape, Tony, is making things here a lot better than before. The greens are really good.

Beware of Youth Camp on Wednesdays
I've been to this course a number of times and, up until now, always enjoyed my experience. The course, as usual, was in good shape and the layout is great for the average hacker. But, unfortunately on this visit, the front 9 and practice green were taken over by a wave of youth camp golfers. They were loud and didn't appear to be schooled in the etiquettes of the game. They slowed the pace of play drastically and made the start of this round less than enjoyable.
While playing the 7th, I was approached by, what I assumed was, a camp counselor. He apologized for the pace and assured me that the youth players were done after the 9th. This was music to my ears and I was looking forward to playing the back 9 without interruption. But as I drove to the 10th tee box, I found two youth golfers teeing off. I'm all for getting the youth involved in the game (wish I had gotten an earlier start) but they didn't seem to care that they were slowing the groups behind them. After playing the 10th, I did approach and ask them if they knew what pace of play meant. It should be noted that one of them was taking a phone call as I drove up. They said they weren't aware and allowed us to play through. We then played at a good pace until the 16th when we encountered another group of older youth golfers. They were loud and inconsiderate while we were addressing our shots.
I was told by staff that the camp was on Wednesday's so you may want to call ahead if this sort of thing would effect your game.
Thank you for your review. We apologize for the pace of play and that your round was not as pleasant as your previous experiences. We hope that you will return for another round soon. Thanks!
Staff was rude
Played the course about an hour ago. Course was nothing special. Ended up leaving my car key in a cart. Called back to report it and the guy who answered was extremely rude. Started off "how would I ever even know which one" so I said its 39. He responded while league play started there's no way we can find it. To which I tried to respond I actually just left after most of league play had arrived and parked by the shed. He then hung up. This is my car key. I just paid to play his course and he hung up on me. So rude. I wouldn't go back. Terrible customer service.
Terribly unfriendly staff
Short of it is I lost my car key at the course. Called back just after leaving and the staff was unfriendly and then actually hung up on me rather than helping.

Dollar for dollar, one of the best in 413
I love everything about this course. It has plenty of challenges for players of every level. Course is beautifully maintained. You'll definitely hit every club in the bag and get a great test for your precision. Roll is true on every green and great elevation changes. Feels like it plays a bit longer than the card, maybe that was just me. Rough is forgiving on most holes, and great forced carry on some of the back 9. One of my favorites in MA, central or west.
IronMaster413,

1st time, but will be back!
Very enjoyable day out on the course. Sloping greens that can wreak havoc on your scores. Friendly staff and state of the art carts w android touch screens making judging distances a breeze. All in all, a great course for the money.
We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your round! We look forward to seeing you back again soon.
Great short course
Short course, well manicured. Edges of greens fall off adding difficulty. Will definately be back!
We are very glad that you enjoyed your round and look forward to having you back again soon!
Agawam worth the money
Good solid municipal course, tricky greens but overall the course was in good shape. A slow twosome in front of of us but they picked up the pace after two. seemed to play longer than the yardage.
Thank you for your review! We apologize for the slow pace of play and hope to see you on the course again soon.
Agawam
Front nine is very easy compared to the back nine. There are a few holes on the back where groups from 3 different holes may have all hit their shots to one fairway. Have to be careful. Greens ran a bit slow and very uneven, and the tee boxes especially on the par 3's were horrible. Wish they would plant some grass. Overall interesting layout. Worth playing with a great deal. Nice little clubhouse too with food and beers.
Thank you for your feedback, we appreciate it and will take your words into deep consideration as we are constantly trying to improve the conditions of our course. We hope you do come back to play again.
agawam
Course in good shape. Fast play that day, no problems.
Thanks for the review, hope to see you again soon!
