Excellent course
I was visiting the area from Iowa, got a great rate online, so I decided to give this course a try. It lived up to my expectations, and more. Very beautiful course with many "scenic" holes. Very we'll maintained, and really friendly staff. Two different maintenance workers stopped to talk to me, and asked how I liked the course. It's a challenging course, with a premium on accuracy of you shots, but very fair. I enjoyed this course, and would highly recommend it. As is the case of many Michigan golf courses, you have to hit over several "marsh" areas.
What a Beautiful Golf Course!
My husband and I played 18 holes with another couple and had a wonderful time. The course was in perfect shape and the greens were perfectly manicured. This course was quite a challenge for us all. In addition to the scenic course, we especially enjoyed the prolific wild life. Pierce Lake GC is our new 'favorite golf course'!!
Must Play
Fun layout, good shape, friendly staff, quick pace. The combination of all of these qualities make Pierce Lake, in my opinion, one of the top choices in SE Michigan. I will have no problem making the 45 minute trip to play here again. Sure, you can find courses that are somewhat similar closer to the metro area, but at double the cost and with a 5 1/2 hour pace attached to it (no thanks).
worth the ride
nice old feel course lots of carries well maintained allowed to play as a single not crowded afternoon 40 min from home but worth it golf now deal
chose the right tees for you ability!
Fun and challenging, if you pick the right tees.
If not,you will have a tough time!
Very visually intimidating , your better off just swinging away
It was hard pan if you hit out of the fairways , and the greens seemed pretty firm. Had a hard time holding the greens with wedges .
absolutly beautiful course!!
a real gem but not for the average player. a number of par 3's 200+- yards which are all carry to the green. I felt like I was playing a Northern Michigan course rather than one 15 minutes from Ann Arbor.
Top Shelf Taste at a County Owned Muni
I've noticed this course driving back from DTW a couple years ago and finally had an opportunity to give her a go.
The course is just as fun as I thought she would be. I felt a couple times that I was 200 miles north and playing in the Grayling MI area. The layout runs the gambit from cut through hardwoods to open heather bordered links style. She has plenty of fine grained fluffy well tended sand traps to keep you humbled. Tight fairways cut through the hardwoods might just force you to keep the big dog in the bag on a few holes. Throw in some water for good measure and you have a fun round in store for you.
The greens roll true and were kind of speedy even with the amount of rain that we had the night before. They would hold a lofty approach shot sadly the patrons didn't understand the concept of ball mark repair so I did my best to fix a couple more along with my own.
Staff:
They grounds crew do a wonderful job maintaining this high traffic track and keep the bunkers tended along with greens that roll true and are above average speeds to make one take pause when making a 6 footer. They stop what they are doing when a person is making a shot as well. The gals working the bev carts are friendly and seem to show just in time to keep a cold CRAFT BREW in hand. At the turn I had one of the best turkey club sandwiches that I shoved down my gullet.
I would recommend giving this course a try.
This course is well worth playing
Five Star golf course with friendly staff, excellent conditions, and reasonable rates!
Great track!
Absolutely awesome course. The course needs to be marked much better as there is trouble on most holes and very few hazard stakes to be found.
fun watching fawns on course
course is in really good shape ,they need to add yardage signs for carrying marsh land.
Worth a trip
Well maintained course with some interesting holes and elevation changes throughout. The greens were some of the best I've seen this year and there was no indication of damage from the winter. It's easy to get to off I-94, but most of the holes feel like they are fairly secluded. The couple of problems: There are a couple of holes on the front side next to an auto dealership and the announcements from there are annoying, especially during your backswing. There are a couple of holes on the back nine that are pretty close to I-94 and all of that noise. I've played there four times and have found the wrong group on a tee when we arrived every time because of a weird grouping of holes on the back side.
Hidden Gem
Really nice facility. Well maintained. One temp green right now, but it looked only days away from re-opening. Some blind shots but not unforgiving. A little course knowledge can go a long way here. NO RANGE. Five tee boxes.
first time it feels like
.nite nite scores except one green was being receded they have the flag in the fairway
One of my favorites
I really enjoy this course, lots of contour to the land which makes for a good time. Like most courses in the area, winter was very hard, but the course is coming back nicely. Would takes business colleagues to play this course.
first time
Really enjoyed the course. Challenging yet fair. Wouldve played a few holes differently but that comes with the territory. It would definitely be my home course if I lived in the area. Can't wait to go back!
1hr. 15min. drive .... WELL WORTH IT.
Just played this course for the first time today. I would have played this course a few times by now if I knew about it. Really interesting holes many different types and open, through woods, neighborhoods ect. Very fun and only one temporary green on the whole course (#2). They have nice electric carts and is walkable. The only thing that is a negative is the lack of driving range. I'll be back again for sure.
Provides for a great day of golf !!!!
I personally love this course....very challenging but fun holes to play within a great setting
Good condition - Nice course
Considering our winter, Pierce Lake was in very good shape this early in the season. Greens were probably a bit slower than they will be as the weather improves. Played the gold tees and thought the course was very fair. Good golf holes, nothing tricked up. No real long carries over marsh/wetlands. Good course for ladies off red tees.
Pierce Lake
Excellent golf. Greens in good shape for being so early in the year.
