Great wildlife Photo submitted by Criley4way on 09/09/2017
Great course for a fair price and staff is very friendly!
Great course
The course was in great shape and was a great bargain . One of the best courses in Washtenaw County by far
Beautiful Course
Undulating greens and lots of holes where you must carry the wetlands. I often see sand hill cranes here.
Inviting Course
The scenic layout of the course is excellent and offers 1 red tee and 4 other levels that range from 5500 to over 7000 yards. So most any golfer will appreciate a pretty wide variety of challenges all of which will be enjoyable.
The greens are very nice and the golf ball rolls true and consistently on all 18 greens. The fairways are generally pretty nice. I am from Florida and had to learn to watch the ball carefully to locate it in the rough that tends swallow the ball. However, I don't really think the rough will prevent anyone from attacking the green.
I have been on the course 3 times and feel like it is a course that invites you to return to enjoy the pleasure of yet another round of golf.
I might add that EVERYONE that works in the pro shop, on the grounds, and the rangers are pleasant and courteous and friendly and all seem determined to see that you have a pleasurable visit. They are all inviting too.
FORE.....
Nice course to play
The course was in great shape and the staff was fantastic. Great ranger!
Fun
It was a fun round other than some slow play.enjoyed myself
Good Time
Pierce Lake is one of the best public golf course deals around. Course conditions are usually very good, fairways a little wet from all the rain last week, greens in good to very good shape.
Excellent course!!
Played this course on an early saturday morning golf now deal. It was the first time for me and my golf partner. We arrived about 45 minutes early and the starter said we would be paired up with another twosome. After a few minutes putting he asked if we wanted to play as a twosome and go a bit early since they had a few "gaps" in the tee times.Off we went...the pace of play on the card is 4:30 I believe...we ended up finishing at right about 4 hours...GREAT!! The greens were reasonably fast and challenging to putt on...some of the traps could use a little love and new sand since there was a bit of stones/pebbles in alot of them. Not the worst I have seen but not the best either...probably about average in condition. There is a bit of rolling topography to the course which adds to the enjoyment of this course... We enjoyed the experience and hope to play there again soon!! Keep up the good work and the welcoming attitudes
Best in Wastenaw
The course is always in good shape and a lot of fun to play.
more of an open layout on front nine. closed in on back nine. early season no water in ball washes. thought the staff could have informed me of this so that i could have wet a towels. while green were in good shape, ball marks were quite evident and had not been repaired most likely due to the wet weather. otherwise a nice playable course that puts a premium on hitting the fairways, especially on the back nine.
Slow Play
Pace of Play:
Pierce Lake is fun course to play. But not when it takes 5 hours. Understandably....people were looking for golf balls in the leaves (which were not chopped, mowed or blown into the woods) but 2 separate rangers inquired about the pace of play throughout the round and neither of them did anything about it. Front nine 2: hours 25 minutes, back nine 2 hours and 23 minutes.
Golf Course:
The golf course is very playable....except the dumbest finishing hole ever. Par 3 230 yards....with a forced carry of probably at least 210 depending on the pin. Although there is some room short and left, the natural wetlands make it pretty impossible to see so it feels all of 230 with zero bailout. And the hole faces west, which typically plays into a breeze. And this is from the 1-up tees with a total distance of just under 6800 yards. I can only imagine how stupid this hole would be with an added 20 yards of carry from the tips. It would be one thing if the hole was straight in front of you and distance was the difficulty, but the natural wetlands short and right, the sloped hill left and behind leave pretty much zero bail out, and an extremely difficult up and down if you find land off your tee shot.
In my opinion, this hole could be sweetest finishing hole by expanding the hole by only 45 -60 yards and make it a go-for-broke short par 4. Opening up a bit more fairway would leave plenty of options off the tee and a great opportunity to finish with a birdie, par, and still bring bogeys and worse into play. I've played here at least 10 times and never sniffed a decent look at birdie. Feel great if you make a par, but most often leave the course dumbfounded and annoyed with bogey or worse. I'm sure I'm not the only person who dislikes this hole.
Great day on the course
Very nice course. Well maintained with very nice employees. Good for the beginner to semi pro. Can play as short as 4674 to 7005 yds.
First time last time
First time playing the course and I was not impressed. Very slow play after the turn with no ranger in site to keep play moving. Conditions of the greens very poor with the rest of the course fair at best. In my option not worth what I paid for. I've played better courses for less money. Won't be back!
Very interesting course
The course was in great shape. There are a few blind shots but if you have the time (which we did) to ride and scout out the hole, the holes are challenging but not unfair. Staff was very friendly and accomodating.
